Sheraton Oman reopens to guests following extensive refurbishment project

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts has announced the reopening of Sheraton Oman in Muscat, following extensive renovations. The landmark hotel is the tallest building in Oman and it has 230 guest rooms and suites. The refurbishment programme of the hotel included upgrades to accommodation as well as renovated restaurants and public spaces.

British Airways launches new direct flights to Oman

British Airways is launching a new non-stop service to Oman from 30 October, which will fly from London Heathrow to Oman’s capital Muscat five times a week, cutting the flight time to just over seven hours and making it a more attractive mid-haul winter sun destination.

Jumeirah set to open new Saraya Bandar Jissah beach resort in Oman

The Jumeirah Group, famous for its deluxe Dubai hotels, is opening its first resort in Oman in 2017. Currently under construction, the new Saraya Bandar Jissah beach resort on a bay close to the country's capital Muscat will feature two hotels with restaurants, a spa and a diving centre among its extensive facilities.

Oman records increase in tourists during Eid Festival

Tourism in the Sultanate of Oman increased significantly during the recent Eid holidays, with many hotels in the country recording 100 per cent occupancy. The majority of visitors were GCC nationals and expats, and the hotels that experienced high numbers during the nine-day break included Masirah Island Resort, Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve and Alila Jabal Akhdar.

Oman Tourism to build three new hotels with 900 rooms in Muscat by 2018

The Oman Tourism and Development Company (Omran) will add another three hotels in Oman by 2018. The government-owned company will launch a total of 900 new hotel rooms in the three properties that include a five-star W Hotel as part of the Royal Opera House in Muscat, and the five-star JW Marriott and four-star Crowne Plaza hotels in the Madinat Al Irfan Urban Centre in Muscat.
