The luxurious Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, will finally open its doors next month following the extensive repairs and renovations after Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico last year. The upscale resort was damaged by the hurricane which caused devastating damage across the island in September 2017.

Located on a white sand beach in the Dorado district of San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico, the luxury resort has 110 guest rooms and suites. The property is a AAA Five Diamond hotel, and it has undergone significant refurbishments to its accommodation and facilities ahead of its reopening on 1st October 2018.

Guest rooms have been redesigned and feature new colours, and the grounds have more than 300,000 new flowers and plants. The hotel’s upscale five-bedroom "Su Casa" villa has also undergone renovations and upgrades.

“[The reopening] marks an exciting next chapter in the legendary history of our [hotel]. I am extraordinarily proud of our Ladies and Gentlemen, who have lovingly restored our treasured property with the same heartfelt care they show our guests.”

Stated George Sotelo, General Manager at Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. Mr Sotelo also explained:

“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Dorado Beach as well as introducing the Reserve to a whole new set of guests experiencing the property for the first time.”

Additional changes at the hotel include the introduction of a new menu at the family-friendly Encanto Beach Club Bar and Grill; a brand new Omakase and Ceviche Bar; and a refurbished Spa Botanico wellness centre. The hotel’s signature restaurant and bar will have a new concept which will launch in November 2018. The championship golf course collection is already open to players.

The vibrant city of San Juan is bursting with lively bars, cafes, restaurants and attractions. In Old San Juan, holidaymakers can explore narrow streets which lead to old theatres and museums, verdant parks. The city is home to remarkable 16th-century Spanish colonial architecture including El Morro, El Catedral de San Juan Bautista and La Fortaleza.

The Caribbean island of Puerto Rico suffered extensive damage during a series of hurricanes and storms last year, including Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria. The country’s businesses, homes, hotels, and public buildings were destroyed or damaged, and have been under repair over the last few months. The island is once again open for business and tourism officials are keen to let the world’s travellers know that it continues to be a leading tourist destination.
