Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) will be enhancing travellers’ experience this summer, as it launches a variety of initiatives. Ranging from discounts to fast transit visas, passengers can enjoy a wide range of experiences during their visit to the airport.

Abu Dhabi Duty-Free has teamed up with major brands to offer a series of discounts and promotions to passengers. Shopper can enjoy free vouchers from jewellery stores, as well as discounts on electronics.

Restaurants and cafes at the airport have launched summer menus and treat, and there are dedicated Fan Zones where football fans can watch the World Cup matches. There’s also interactive football experience and official merchandise available to buy.

“Abu Dhabi Airports prioritises passenger safety above all else.”

Stated Abdul Majeed Al Khoori, the Acting Chief Executive Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports. Mr Al Khoori also explained:

“We have worked hard to add the element of utmost convenience to this, to ensure that all passengers passing through Abu Dhabi International Airport have a truly world-class experience. We are indebted to the support of all our stakeholders and partners in making this possible and for contributing to our collective success.”

A new transit visa counter has been set up in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways, and the General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners Affairs Abu Dhabi. The service grants visas to transit and arriving passengers within 30 minutes. Located in Terminal 3, the service provides a four-day or 96-hour transit visa for all nationalities. The service was introduced to encourage more travellers to visit the emirate.

The airport’s Smart Travel system offers a five-step check-in process through immigration and security. Since it was introduced in 2016, airport processing time for travellers has decreased by up to 70 percent. Passengers can also stay up to date on their Facebook and Twitter with real-time flight information via the BizTweet service.

For travellers who want to drop their luggage at the airport early so they can carry on exploring the vibrant city, there are baggage drop facilities at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and City Check-in in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain International Airport, available 24 hours before their flights.
