Half Moon Resort in Jamaica announces $75 million refurbishment project

The Half Moon Jamaica has revealed it will undergo a multi-million-dollar refurbishment and upgrade project. The hotel will add 57 rooms to its existing 153 units, and it will add new facilities and public areas.

Located seven miles from Montego Bay in Jamaica, the resort sits on 400 acres of tropical beachfront. The extensive $75 million renovations are expected to be completed by November 2018.

A new lobby will be added to the resort, and there will be a concierge area called the Great House. A new adults-only pool will be constructed and its beach will be expanded to include a natural swimming cove. There will be two new restaurants and a vegan café, and a new pool bar will feature driftwood-inspired architecture and hanging lanterns designed to look like fishing baskets. At the resort’s luxury Fern Tree Spa, there will be a new entrance with manicured gardens.

Existing facilities include the Anancy Children's Village, the Hype Zone for teenagers, a modern health and fitness centre, an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed golf course, the Dolphin Lagoon, an equestrian centre, six gourmet restaurants, eight stylish bars and lounges, a wine cellar stocked with 150 wines from all over the world, and the Fern Tree Spa with a variety of soothing treatments and therapies.

Guests can choose a range of accommodation options, from rooms and suites to luxury villas that have between four and seven bedrooms. Rooms feature spacious balconies or private patios, plus modern amenities including air conditioning, TVs with cable, mini-bars, plush bathrobes, minibars, coffee/tea makers, direct dial telephones and twice-daily maid service. The Royal Villas offer an upscale experience with personalised butlers, housekeepers and chefs; private swimming pools; spacious living areas with wireless Internet, air conditioning, cable TV and DVD players; and outdoor areas with views of the turquoise ocean or verdant gardens.

The Half Moon Resort is just ten minutes from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay on the north coast of the Caribbean island of Jamaica. Located on a pristine two-mile crescent-shaped white sand beach, the family-owned resort has been operated independently for more than six decades, and its ownership includes three of the original 17 families.
