Baha Mar mega-resort in Bahamas on hunt for Chief Flamingo Officer

The Baha Mar mega-resort in the Bahamas has announced it is looking to employ a Chief Flamingo Officer. The luxury resort is looking for someone to work alongside its chief scientist to look after a flock of pink and orange flamingos that are expected to arrive in the near future. The new officer will be responsible for managing their diet, overseeing breeding programmes and educating hotel guests.

The Baha Mar mega-resort in the Bahamas is looking to appoint a new Chief Flamingo Officer (CFO). The resort is on the hunt for someone to look after it new flock of pink and orange flamingos who are due to arrive at the luxury resort soon.

The Chief Flamingo Officer will join the resort’s resident chief scientist at the luxury Bahamas resort complex. They will be responsible for managing the diet and habitat of the flamingos, overseeing a breeding programme, treating ill or injured birds, and educating hotel guests during tours.

The CFO will work in an office named the “Flamingo Mansion” which will also be the birds’ home. The habitat has been specifically built for the birds and has indoor and outdoor space. Applicants must have a degree in zoology and an understanding of biology. They must also have a minimum of five years of experience working with exotic birds as well as excellent people skills. The new role is part of a programme called the Baha Mar Ecological, Aquatic Conservation Habitat Sanctuary (BEACH Sanctuary), which was set up to preserve and celebrate the local wildlife in the Bahamas.

The Baha Mar resort complex sits on New Providence Island in the Bahamas and has been hailed as the mega-resort of the Caribbean. The development has two Grand Hyatt Hotels, SLS LUX at Baha Mar, Rosewood at Baha Mar and the Melia at Baha Mar. As well as several luxury hotels, the mega resort has a 50,000 square-foot retail village with boutique shops, local Bahamian arts and crafts markets, gourmet restaurants and cafes, and diverse entertainment venues.

Holidaymakers of all ages can enjoy access to fun attractions including a 20-acre Eco Water Park with a pool experience. There are three luxury spas, including the largest spa in the Caribbean, plus an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Course. The complex also boasts the largest convention centre in the Bahamas with 200,000 square-feet of space that will be used both for business events and as an entertainment and sports arena. The resort’s 100,000 square-foot casino will be the Caribbean’s largest gaming complex.

New Providence Island is the main island of the Bahamas archipelago, and it spans 21 miles long and seven miles wide. It city, Nassau, is the capital of the Bahamas, and is home to casinos, upscale hotels, shopping malls and restaurants. There are also attractions including the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas, Ardastra Gardens and Zoo with vibrant flamingos, and the historic Fort Fincastle.
