Conrad Maldives opens first all-glass undersea restaurant in Maldives
The world's first all-glass underwater restaurant has opened at Conrad Maldives Hotel on Rangali Island. Located 16 feet beneath the surface of the ocean, the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant sits in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and diners will be able to enjoy views of the crystal-clear turquoise water and its spectacular coral reef and marine species while they dine.
The first all-glass underwater restaurants in the world has opened its doors to guests. The unique dining venue is located in the Conrad Maldives Hotel and offers a spectacular setting for guests.
Situated 16 feet beneath the surface of the sea on Rangali Island in the Maldives, the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant offers a chic setting where diners can enjoy unique and breath-taking 180-degree panoramic views of the turquoise water and its inhabitants. Guests access the restaurant by walking to the end of a jetty, before heading down a spiral staircase into the coral reef and crystal-clear azure sea.
The chic venue caters for up to 14 diners at one time, making it the perfect setting for special occasions, unique business meetings or exclusive get-togethers. While guests savour their delicious seafood dishes, they can watch the diverse marine species glide through the water outside via the large glass tunnel windows.
Four-course lunch menus start from $150 per person, and include dishes such as lobster-stuffed pasta with burrata, prawn tartar and caviar. Six-course dinner menus include contemporary European cuisine, and the venue is also open mid-morning for cocktails and breakfast.
The unusual dining outlet has already received awards since its opening this summer. At the World Luxury Restaurant Awards, it received awards for Global Restaurant of the Year, Luxury Unique Experience, and Luxury Resort Restaurant.
Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is one of the most luxurious hotels in the Maldives. It is located in the South Ari Atoll on two idyllic private islands that are linked by a bridge. The resort boasts high end accommodation that ranges from overwater spa villas and beach villas, to 150-square metre luxurious two-bedroom Family Water Villas.
During their stay, guests can enjoy access to high end facilities such as a lavish overwater spa, yoga pavilion, two infinity swimming pools, fitness suite, seven gourmet restaurants, four bars and a kids’ club. Holidaymakers can enjoy a wide range of activities, including tennis, snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, peddle boat rides, and shopping at the three onsite boutiques.
As well as dinner in the underwater restaurant, guests will have another way to explore the underwater world surrounding the island without having to get wet. The resort’s private three-seater Nemo N100 submarine take visitors on underwater voyages to get close to beautiful fish, seahorses, coral gardens, turtles, reef sharks and vibrant creatures that live in the Indian Ocean lagoon.
