Hilton Worldwide opens new Embassy Suites Santo Domingo Hotel

Hilton Worldwide has opened a brand new hotel in Santo Domingo under its Embassy Suites brand.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo is a 150-suite property that is located in the business district of the Dominican Republic capital.

The new hotel will be located in the tallest building in the city in the Silver Sun Gallery complex on Avenida Tiradentes.

"We are thrilled to bring the Embassy Suites by Hilton brand to Santo Domingo," stated John Rogers, the Global Head for Embassy Suites Hotels. "The brand delivers a strong value proposition that resonates with both leisure and business travellers and we are confident the hotel will thrive in the nation's capital and commercial hub."

The Santo Domingo hotel has 16,000 square-feet of flexible meeting space, made up of two ballrooms, six function rooms, a 24-hour business centre, and 4,300 square-feet of outdoor event space that is perfect for wedding and celebrations.

"We are excited to open our second Hilton Worldwide hotel in Santo Domingo, a perfect complement to our already successful Hilton Santo Domingo," commented Danny Hughes, the Senior Vice President for the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America at Hilton Worldwide.

Guest can relax in two-bedroom suites that feature a private bedroom and a separate living area with a sofa, chair and dining table. Suite amenities include Embassy alarm clocks with MP3 connections, wireless internet, coffee makers, wet bars, and in-room audio systems that can be used with iPods and CDs.

This is the second Hilton hotel to open in the city, following the recent opening of the Sheraton resort earlier this year.

The city of Santo Domingo is divided by the Ozama River and is home to historic Victorian houses, tree-lined streets, luxury hotels, casinos, historic monuments, and tourist attractions such as Columbus's Lighthouse, where the explorer's remains are buried; the open caves of the Parque Nacional Los Tres Ojos; and the National Aquarium.

The Colonial Zone features several examples of 15th and 16th century architecture; beautiful churches, cathedrals and convents including the Iglesia Regina Angelorum and the Convento de los Dominicos; and museums such as Alcazar de Colon, Museum of Duarte and the Museo del Ron Dominicano which turns into a rum bar at night.

The bustling Malecon Boulevard is lined with nightclubs, casinos, restaurants, cafes and museums and is perfect for embracing the local lifestyle, cuisine and entertainment that the Dominican Republic capital has to offer.
