Travellers planning relaxing holidays in Turks and Caicos may be interested to learn that the Alexandria Resort has recently been put into receivership by the bank responsible for its mortgage. Alexandria resort in Turks and Caicos goes into receivership

It has been recently announced that one of the most popular luxury resorts in Turks and Caicos - the Alexandria Resort in beautiful Providenciales, has been placed into receivership by the bank responsible for its mortgage. The move has not come as a surprise to local officials who have noted that resort has been having financial issues for some time.

The announcement has been kept relatively quiet with no information available on the resort’s official website however in subsequent news reports, Washington Misick, developer and director of the organisation operating the hotel has noted that the latest events in no way affect the current or potential guests at the Alexandria resort, stating that guests, “need not be concerned as business will be conducted as usual”. The assurance given by Mr Misick may be seen by some as a last ditched attempt to ensure that travellers planning to book holidays in Turks and Caicos are not discouraged from booking a stay at the troubled Alexandria hotel.

Prior to the announcement the Alexandria resort, currently ranked 20 out of 42 hotels in Turks and Caicos on popular review website Tripadvisor, has proved to be popular with travellers. One recent review on the 6th June raved, “The room was fantastic. Every night we watched beautiful sunsets … We immediately fell in love with Provo Island, the people, the food, and the laid back feel of the Alexandra Resort! We have been to many Caribbean Islands, and Turks & Caicos is our new favourite!... The staff at the Alexandra were so friendly and helpful, and the food at the Mango Reef was excellent. We snorkelled, kayaked, sailed, and paddle boarded right outside the resort”.

Undoubtedly, much of the Alexandria’s popularity with travellers on Turks and Caicos holidays is owed to its luxurious facilities as well as private access to one of the island’s most renowned beaches- Grace Bay. Boasting of crystal clear waters and powder soft white sand, Grace Bay was named as the World’s Best Beach at the 2005 World Travel Awards. Additionally, guests have access to a wide range of facilities at the Alexandria including one swim up bar, a large free form swimming pool, a state of the art fitness centre and access to a wide range of water sports and other land based activities including tennis.
