The number of visitors who have enjoyed their Bahamas holidays so much that they recommend the Caribbean island to others is increasing, according to the Ministry of Tourism who gathered the data from tourists' exit surveys and recently published it.

Increase in satisfied tourists recommending Bahamas holidays to others

The Bahamas' Ministry of Tourism has revealed information showing that the number of tourists who recommend Bahamas holidays to others is on the increase.

The information was gathered from data from exit surveys of tourists who had recently gone on holidays to the Bahamas and revealed that hotel staff attitude had gained favourable responses from visitors and increased up to 45.8 per cent, signalling a 2.5 per cent rise compared to levels in 2005. Satisfaction of room categories of Bahamas hotels increased to 29.8 per cent in 2010, up 5 per cent from five years ago.

Though the report lacked in information about the percentage of tourist stopovers who would recommend Bahamas holidays to friends and those looking for a good Caribbean holiday destination, it showed more positive results overall on the visitors’ experience to the Caribbean island nation.

The Bahamas' Minister of Tourism and Aviation, Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, explained that the increasing satisfaction levels of travellers taking holidays to The Bahamas were the results of the efforts made in these areas.

“This is clear evidence that training efforts in both the private and public sectors have had an effect, that the collaboration with the Police has had an effect and that the massive increase in expenditure in cleaning up and fixing the streets have had an effect. In fact the last point has had the second highest percentage improvement,” said Vanderpool-Wallace.

The Bahamas is a Caribbean island nation archipelago situated in the Atlantic Ocean; just north of Cuba. The main island Grand Bahama boasts beautiful pink sand beaches which get their colour from fractured seashell mixed with sand and the island features an underwater limestone cave system, botanical gardens, and national parks, which provide a tranquil setting for relaxing Bahamas holidays.

The island is a popular choice for Caribbean holidays and during their visit holidaymakers can enjoy scuba diving and snorkelling activities, tours of the thriving national parks, exploring the historic sites such as Pompey Museum of Slavery and Emancipation, dolphin-watching excursions, and several watersports.

“We have invested a great deal of effort and resources in perfecting methods and systems that enable us to learn what matters in visitor satisfaction and what affects the visitor’s intent to recommend the Bahamas to friends and relatives,” Vanderpool-Wallace added.

“‘It’s Better in the Bahamas’ must spring from the visitor experience and this suggests that the claim is true at least relative to the past five years.”
