The outlook for Cuba holidays this year is already looking good, or so believe tourism authorities in Cuba who expect an increase in the figure of visitors to the country by the end of the year

Tourism authorities in Cuba are saying that more than 2.4 million tourist are expected to take Cuba holidays and visit the island. This would signal a 3.3 percent increase in figures from 2008's record, even when deep discounts and the increasing trend for shorter stays may alter the overall profitability in the Cuba holidays industry, meaning that revenues could be down overall.

This latest announcement means that the increasing popularity of Cuba holidays will break the previous year's mark of 2.34 million visitors by nearly 80,000, fuelled by new Cuba hotels with 2000 new rooms in top tourist areas, including Havana holidays and Varadero holidays, the island’s most famous white-sand beach resort just north of the capital, Tourism Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz said on Thursday editions of the Communist Party newspaper Granma.
