Day 2: Hanoi full day city tour (B/L)

The guide meets you in the hotel’s lobby at 9am. We head to the southern edge of the ancient citadel (today the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense) where our walk starts. We first tread lightly across a mobile street market where merchants come every morning to display an impressive array of veggies and fruits mostly on both side of a little street. We keep walking and enter Hanoi’s unique “food street”, the only place in town where food shops are allowed to stay opened 24/24. Our promenade takes us then along the railway and the impressive scenes of life by the rails and we end at the temple of litterature.
After visiting this masterpiece of architecture we go for a typical Hanoian lunch: a bun cha on the sidewalk. Bun Cha is an exclusive dish of Hanoi, some flavored minced pork flame grilled and served with sticky rice noodles and springrolls. In the afternoon, we go to explore the garden of the Presidential Palace featuring giant mango trees, the one-pillar pagoda and the teak house on stilts where Ho Chi Minh spent his last years. We then hop on an electric cart that will take us around the largest lake of Hanoi. An exit from the bustle and the opportunity to discover other facets of the city.
We stop en route and transfer to one of the highest building of Hanoi for the pinnacle of the day. We take you for a sunset drink on the rooftop of Hanoi. Enjoy the view of the whole city and the surrounding mountains while sipping a cocktail (one cocktail included).

Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 3: Hanoi – Mai Chau (B/L/D)

Depart at 8.00A.M from your hotel and heading toward Mai Chau, a beautiful valley with a patchwork quilt pattern of rice terraces and villages which are home to the White Thai people. In the afternoon, stroll around the village and learn more about local lifestyle and as well their culture.

Day 4: Mai Chau – Pu Luong (B/L/D)

After breakfast, we start our journey with a quick transfer to the remote subvalley of Mai Hich. We start a leisure walk along single trails and fields filled with local crops. We should expect many “hellos” on the way. Our walk ends in the small hamlet of Mai Hich at a local house on stilts, where we will enjoy a home-made lunch.
In the afternoon, we drive further towards the Laos border and enter the Pu Luong nature reserve.
The reserve offers a summary of all North Vietnam’s fairy sceneries: mountain, jungle, terraced rice fields, hamlets of wooden houses on stilts, rivers and cascades. We drive along a winding road for about one and a half hour to a lovely resort and its bungalows on the mountain side. Check-in and make yourself comfortable. The rest of the day can be at leisure by the swimming pool, you may also want to indulge a traditional spa treatment (at extra charge) or to go for a walk around.
