The Nicaragua Culture and Nature Tour shows you everything you need to know and everything you should see when you visit this fascinating nation.

Day 1 – Arrival in Managua

Shortly upon arrival at Managua’s Augusto C. Sandino International Airport you will be greeted at the airport by our local representatives and taken on a transfer to your hotel, the fabulous 3* Hotel Hex, with a rooftop swimming pool, Wi-Fi access and modern, comfortable accommodation, where you will be spending your first overnight stay in Nicaragua.

Day 2 - Managua

After reviving your energy with a satisfying breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to the city’s historical centre, once destroyed by the 1972 earthquake. The full day city Tour will include a visit to residential neighbourhoods, where you can learn about the locals’ typical abodes and housing architecture in the capital. The tour continues with a visit to Tiscapa Hill (locally known as Loma de Tiscapa), a place with deep historical meaning about Nicaragua’s revolution and from where you can admire sweeping views of the city and the rolling hills below. The journey continues with a walk following the trail of the Acahualinca Footprints, in a region once called El Cauce, where fossil tracks of Late Holocene humans can be found. The footprints are set in volcanic ash, which solidified more than 6000 years ago, making them the oldest human footprints in the whole of the American continent. The tour then moves on to the natural reserve of El Chocoyero, just before it’s time for lunch. Lunch is included. Overnight in Managua.

Your overnight stay will be at the Hex hotel.

Day – 3 – Ferry from San Jorge to Ometepe Island

After an early morning rise and breakfast at your hotel you’ll be making your way towards the Port of San Jorge Rivas, where a ferry awaits you to take you to Ometepe Island, the largest islet in the great Lake of Nicaragua. Once there you will tour this beautiful volcanic island, stopping off at a few places of interest, such as the Pre-Columbian and Numismatic Museum of “El Ceibo, the land spit known as “Punta Jesus Maria” and the mythical “Charcho Verde” lagoon. Before your complete tour comes to an end there’ll be one more stop to admire the Petroglyphs of Altagracia, striking pictograms carved in stone and depicting the lives of the indigenous people that first inhabited Nicaragua – some of these rock engravings are over 2000 years old. After enjoying lunch you will have the rest of the day to enjoy at your own leisure and discover the island at your own pace. Lunch is included

The Villa Paraiso hotel will be your accommodation for the overnight stay in Ometepe.

Day 4 – Ometepe Island

This will be your only day off in the whole tour, where you can be your own guide and explore the island as you see fit, enjoy its soothing tranquillity, take long strolls along the tropical forest, take a dip in the lake’s glistening waters, climb the volcano peaks or simply relax on a hammock by the beach. Lunch is included

Your overnight stay in Ometepe will once again be at Villa Paraiso.

Day 5 – Journey from Ometepe Island to Granada

Soon after breakfast you will be transferred to the Port of Moyogalpa, where a ferry awaits you to take you to the Port of San Jorge Rivas. From here you will depart towards the mesmerising colonial city of Granada. After lunch you will get to spend the remainder of the day as you wish, recharging your batteries before the big day of touring and sightseeing ahead. Lunch is included

Your overnight stay in Granada will be at the charmingly colonial Alhambra Hotel.

Day 6 – Granada

This is the day when you fully take on Granada and enjoy a full city tour, shortly after having breakfast at your hotel. The journey starts with a complete tour around the main city streets, to appreciate the pretty colonial architecture and the different monuments, parks and squares. You will walk through Colon Park, the San Francisco Convent, the fort of La Polvora and the Church of La Merced. You’ll not only be taking in the sights but also the warmth and the culture of this magical city. Afterwards you will enjoy a long boat ride along the tiny islets of Granada, admiring the beautiful lake views just before lunch. Lunch is included

The Alhambra Hotel will once again be your home for the night.

Day 7 – Granada – Mombacho Volcano Nature Reserve

After tucking into breakfast at your hotel, a short transfer will be taking you to the Mombacho Volcano Nature Reserve, where you will get the chance to go on adventurous trails along the lush vegetation of a primary forest. Hike along the one-mile-long El Tigrillo trail and admire the rich wildlife. You’ll have the chance to spot a myriad of plants and animals, many of which are endemic to this region, thanks to its unique micro-climate. In the afternoon you’ll be enjoying a thrilling zip-lining ride across the treetops. Lunch is included

Your last night in Granada will be at the Alhambra Hotel.

Day 7 – White Towns – Masaya – Managua

Shortly after breakfast you will depart Granada and make our way to the White Towns, which are small towns in Nicaragua known for its skilled craftsmen. The journey then continues towards Catarina’s viewpoint, view point, which has one of the most beautiful panoramic sites and the greatest lagoon of the country. We will continue to Masaya’s Crafts Market, where we will be able to acquire all the imagined ceramics of the region; Masaya’s Volcano National Park, where we will observe the volcanic activity of San Fernando’s Crater and visit its museum. Lunch is included. Overnight in Managua.

Day 9: Managua – Chinandega – Leon

Following breakfast, today you will head towards Chichigalpa’s Chinandega home town of the famous Nicaraguan rum “Flor de Caña” for a journey through the history of the rum of Nicaragua. Prepare yourself to experience a truly memorable trip to the Flor de Caña recognized as the most awarded rum brand in the world. Continue to Leon for Lunch. Lunch is included. Rest of the day off.

The Best Western Las Mercedes Leon will be your accommodation for the night.

Day 10: Leon

After an early morning breakfast, you will experience the youngest and most excited volcano of all Central America, “Cerro Negro” (Black Forest). Enjoy Sand boarding or just trekking around this imposing volcano. Afternoon city tour of the colonial city of Leon. Lunch is included.

Your second night in Leon will be spent at the Best Western Las Mercedes Leon.

Day 11: Leon – Managua

After breakfast at the Hex Hotel in Managua you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight back home. This is where your tour ends.
