The Western Safari Adventure is an outstanding Egyptian holiday. Pass the mountains of the Black Desert, camp out under the stars in the beautiful White Desert and stop off at the interesting oases at Bahariya, Frafra, Dakhla and Kharga. Your final stop is the fascinating city of Luxor where you visit the ancient temples on both the East and West Banks of the River Nile. This tour explores the ancient, Greek, Roman, Coptic and Islamic treasures of Egypt to reveal the mysteries of this captivating country.

Day 1 - Cairo

Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, Excel Travel representative welcomes you and assists you through the immigration process. Modern air-conditioned coaches take you to your hotel of choice in Cairo. Your representative will ensure a smooth hotel check-in.

Day 2 - Cairo

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel followed by a busy day of sightseeing. Get an up-close view of the Pyramids of Cheops, Khefren, and Mycerinus, the Sphinx, and the Valley Temple. Visit the world-renowned Egyptian Museum and see the treasures of King Tutankhamen and antiquities that date back some 3,350 years. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before visiting the Citadel. See the medieval fortress of Salah-El-Din, the Mosque of Mohammed Ali, and the famous Khan El Khalili Bazaar. (b,l)

Day 3 - Cairo • Bahariya Oasis

In the morning depart for the Bahariya Oasis in a 4x4 Toyota Landcruiser, stopping at Wadi El Rayan en route. Wadi El Rayan is located in the Fayoum depression and features the only waterfalls in the desert. (b,l,d)

Day 4 - Bahriya • White Desert

In the early morning explore the attractions of Bahariya. Visit Qasr Selim and the original tomb of Benantui from the 26th dynasty. Next, explore the unusual Amasis chapels at Ain Muftillah and then visit the Temple of Alexander the Great. Travel south to the rarely visited site of El Hayyez, which features a very early Coptic church and a Roman fortress. Drive towards the incredible White Desert, passing the Crystal Mountain and the Black Desert on the way. The White Desert features beautiful shapes formed out of white limestone which contrast with the golden desert sands and clear blue skies in the background. This evening, you get the chance to camp out under the stars in this serene desert landscape. (b,l,d)

Day 5 - Frafra • Dakhla

In the morning, visit the lush Oasis of Frafra. The next stop is the picturesque traditional Islamic village of El Qasr, then the ancient Mut Temple before continuing on to the Dakhla Oasis. (b,l,d)

Day 6 - Dakhla Oasis

After breakfast, tour Dakhla visiting the Roman Temple of Deir El Hagar and the Roman burial ground at Mezzawaqqah. Dakhla Oasis offers the best preserved architecture of all of Egypt’s oases. (b,l,d)

Day 7 - Dakhla • Kharga

In the morning drive to the Kharga Oasis which is also known as the Golden Oasis. Visit the Kharga Museum and Qasr el Labeka - a Roman fortress set on the old caravan route. The next stop is at the Roman Temple of Hibis and the early Christian cemetery at Bagawat which features unique chapels painted with murals. (b,l,d)

Day 8 - Kharga • Luxor

Drive to Luxor passing the Paris Oasis, also known as the ‘Forgotten Oasis’, en route. On arrival in Luxor you are transferred to your hotel for a well earned-rest. (b,l,d)

Day 9 - Luxor • Cairo

Check-out of your hotel after breakfast and drive to the West Bank of the Nile River. Visit the Valley of the Kings and Queens, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Dier El Bahari and the Clossi of Memnon which faces the Nile. Return to the East Bank for lunch at local restaurant then visit Luxor Temple and the temple complex of Karnak Temples. After a busy day of sightseeing, transfer to Luxor Airport for your flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. (b,l)
