Phu Quoc Island
In the last few years, Vietnam has opened its arms to tourists and millions of people now visit this enchanting country each year from every corner of the world. One of its best beach resorts is Phu Quoc Island, a large tear-shaped island 15km off of the coast of Cambodia. Boasting mile upon mile of idyllic beaches, a dense, forested interior and a vibrant culture, this sun soaked island is a must for anyone looking for a beach holiday with a difference.
The main resort area and most popular destination on Phu Quoc Island is Long Beach. Located on the western side of the island, not far from Phu Quoc’s airport, Long Beach is the perfect destination for holidaymakers who want to lie back, relax and soak up some tropical sun. Almost all of the island’s resorts can be found close to this stretch of sand, with a number of restaurants and tour operators also based in the area.
On the opposite side of Phu Quoc Island, visitors will find Sao Beach, which, with its pristine white sand and crystal clear waters is one of the most beautiful in Vietnam. Other popular beaches on Phu Quoc Island include the two-mile long Dai Beach on the north west of the island, Cua Can Beach and Ganh Dau Beach which also offers a selection of restaurants and resorts as well as easy access to the Nguyen Trung Truc Temple.
As Phu Quoc Island is famous for its black pepper and fish sauce, no trip is complete without a visit to one of the many pepper gardens and fish sauce factories that dot the island. Holidaymakers can also pick up tasty treats and local specialities at the Cho Duong Dong Market, the largest wet and dry market on Phu Quoc Island.
Other popular sites include the historic Phu Quoc Prison, the tiny Mot Island and the Wooden Bridges of Phu Quoc. Alternatively, visitors can spend their holiday exploring the Phu Quoc National Park, a protected area that covers 70% of the island’s most beautiful landscapes.
A fantastic choice for holidaymakers looking for a beach break that’s off the beaten track, Phu Quoc Island offers sun, sea and serenity.
