Bike your way through the valleys of Viñales and Anćon, stopping off at the quaint beach Jutías, as well as lush coffee and tobacco plantations. Along the way you will learn about Cuba’s turbulent history whilst visiting the grotto that was the headquarters for Che Guevara. But this stunning cycling tour does not end there! Explore the quaint, whitewashed village and nature reserve of Las Terrazas, and relish the array of open studios, woodwork and pottery workshops, followed by a meander through Havana's colourful streets and rum museum. Day 1 - Havana
Today you will arrive in the lovely Havana. We can arrange a transfer for you to your hotel (optional) or you can make your own arrangements. You will stay at a Hotel in Havana, 4* Standard
Day 2 - Havana - Viñales
After breakfast, at 8:30 am, you will have a welcome meeting with your tour guide. You will then depart for Pinar del Río, the famous tobacco region in Western Cuba. You will get to know Pinar del Rio where you will visit a tobacco factory and take a look around the town. Afterwards, you will continue to the Viñales Valley, one of the most attractive natural landscapes on the island. Here, the legendary Cuban tobacco grows between the crags and rocks of the steep cliffs. After lunch in a typical restaurant, you will set off on your first bike tour. You will also visit the Cueva del Indio, a 90 meter high underground cave.The cycle distance for the day is approx. 10 km. You will stay at aCasa Particular in Viñales. Breakfast and Lunch will be included.
Day 3 - Cayo Jutías
Today you will cycle to Cayo Jutias, a secluded sandy beach. Your ride takes you through the Sierra de Oreganos, a meandering mountain range to the northwest of Havana. Cayo Jutías is a small island attached to mainland Cuba by a man-made causeway – cycling over this causeway is truly spectacular! Once there, you will have lunch by the beach, and later you can hire a boat or swim in the beautiful sea. Afterwards, you can either take the bus or cycle back to Viñales. The cycle distance is approx. 55 km. You will stay at a Casa Particular in Viñales. Lunch will be included.
Day 4 - Viñales - Valle Ancón
On today’s ride you will take the Jagua Vieja Road to Palma in the Ancón Valley, a 30 km tour through quaint landscapes of untouched valleys. En route you will have the option to visit a lodge where Fidel Castro held secret meetings during the Cuban Revolution (optional). You will have a picnic lunch in the lush valley before continuing to your next destination: Hotel Villa Aguas Claras, which is nestled in idyllic surroundings, perfect for a short hike in the evening. The cycle distance for the day is approx. 30 km. You will stay at Hotel Aguas Claras. Lunch and dinner will be included.
Day 5 - Valle Ancón - Soroa
After breakfast you will be driven to Cueva de los Portales. This beautiful area was the hideout that Che Guevera used during the '62 standoff with Kennedy. From here you will cycle to Soroa via the Carretera Central.The route takes you through charming, rural West Cuban towns. We highly recommend that you stop and visit the famous Orchid garden in Soroa (optional) where you can see over 700 varieties of this delicate flower. The cycle distance is approx. 45 km. You will stay at Villa Soroa. Breakfast and dinner will be included.
Day 6 - Las Terrazas
After breakfast, you will cycle to the Las Terrazas nature reserve, 20 km away. This community is located in the Sierra del Rosario, a UNESCO protected rural area of sustainable development. On your ride you will see the San Juan river, little lakes and a small waterfall flowing through the thick forest, as well as ruins and coffee plantations from the 19th century. The name of the Las Terrazas community comes from overgrown terraced fields which are typical of this region. The 900 inhabitants of this community live off the timber industry and eco-tourism. En route you will have lunch at a farmhouse. In the afternoon you return to Soroa by bus. The cycle distance for the day is approx. 20 km. You will stay at Villa Soroa. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner will be included.
Day 7 - Soroa - Havana
In the morning you will return to Havana. Your guide will accompany you on a tour through the narrow streets of Old Havana giving you a final impression of old city's Spanish-Andalusian architecture. Your tour ends with a visit to the Havana Club Rum Museum, this is a great place to pick up some souvenirs or drink a cocktail! Lunch in a restaurant included. You will stay at a Hotel in Havana, 4* Standard. Breakfast and lunch will be included.
Day 8 - Departure
It’s time to bid farewell to vibrant Cuba. We can drive you to the airport if you would like (optional) or you can arrange your own transportation. Breakfast will be included.
