Holidays in Soufriere
Visit Soufriere and you will see the real St Lucia. Soufriere, located in the southwest of the island, was once the island’s capital and retains some of its old French architecture. With brightly coloured fishing boats and a village market each Saturday, Soufriere is a stunning setting from which to enjoy the exciting pursuits of St Lucia. The steep coastlines and spectacular reefs offer excellent scuba diving and snorkelling. There are also great facilities for golf, tennis, sailing and many other leisure activities. Spectacular views of the majestic twin peaks of the Piton Mountains can be seen from Mt Gimie or by taking a helicopter flight around the island. The rainforests of the mountainous interior are one of the Caribbean's finest areas for hiking and bird watching. A visit to the world's only drive-in volcano offers a fascinating tour of its steamy sulphur springs and the mineral-rich, cascading waters of Diamond Falls offer a refreshing break.
St Lucia is known for the variety of music and entertainment. Most hotels and restaurants offer entertainment with Steel Pan bands, limbo dancers and Shak Shak bands. St Lucia has a Jazz Festival every May with ten days of music and Carnival season comes to the island each July. For a lush natural setting, good range of activities, vibrant culture and exciting excursions, St Lucia is hard to beat. Suited to both couples and families, Soufriere offers action filled days or the perfect Caribbean location to unwind on the beach.
