Couples Holidays in Tanzania

Find romance in Tanzania

Tanzania may not be the first place that springs to mind when you think of romantic holiday destinations, but it's a wonderful choice - especially if you and your loved one like a touch of adventure and excitement on your travels.

Going on holiday is all about making memories the two of you can share and what could be more special than seeing a herd of elephants wandering on the plains or watching a cheetah stalking across the savannah? The scenery in Tanzania is breathtaking and the animals you can spot here are amazing.

As if a fantastic safari experience wasn't enough, you can also enjoy some time spent on one of Zanzibar's pristine beaches, soaking up the sun and relaxing with your partner in this corner of paradise. The island's capital Stone Town is a fascinating place to explore if you'd like to add a dash of culture and history to your getaway.

Enjoy a luxury safari experience

Going on a safari in Tanzania doesn't mean you have to rough it - there are numerous luxury safari camps where you can enjoy a wildlife-watching experience in the lap of luxury. Equally, more basic accommodation is available if you're on a tight budget for your romantic trip.

Whichever option you choose, you won't be disappointed as the scenery in Tanzania's national parks is breathtaking. From Arusha National Park you'll have amazing views of the imposing Mount Kilimanjaro, while in the Serengeti you can watch the world-famous wildebeest migration.

Lake Manyara National Park, meanwhile, is perfect if you want to escape the crowds. This lesser known safari reserve is a wonderful place to experience several of Tanzania's stunning habitats, including forests, grassy floodplains and rugged mountains. The lake itself is beautiful and there's even an area of hot springs in the south of the park.

For a truly unique safari experience, consider adding Gombe Stream National Park to your itinerary. This is the smallest of Tanzania's reserves and is an area of ancient forest that's home to chimpanzees. These primates are used to human visitors, so you can get remarkably close to them as you walk among the trees.

Unwind on tropical beaches

With its white sands and palm-fringed shores, Zanzibar is the picture of paradise. Coming here for a rest after your safari will be the perfect way to unwind and round off your trip in Tanzania. There are numerous all--inclusive resorts in Zanzibar where your every need will be taken care of and you can enjoy spending quality time with your partner in stunning surroundings.

A stroll along the beach at sunset followed by a romantic meal for two is the perfect way to spend an evening here, while a cruise in a traditional dhow boat will allow you to explore some of the smaller isles in the Zanzibar archipelago.

Stone Town, Zanzibar's capital, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and certainly worth exploring during your tour. The architecture is an interesting mix of African, Arabian, Indian and European design, which is indicative of its varied and fascinating past.

Top landmarks to look out for include the House of Wonders, the Old Fort and the Anglican Cathedral, although just walking along the narrow streets and alleys and soaking up the atmosphere is a wonderful experience.

Make memories on a holiday in Tanzania

Another reason why Tanzania is such a good choice for a romantic holiday is that there are some amazing memorable and unique experiences you can have here as a couple. If you both enjoy a challenge, climbing Africa's highest peak Mount Kilimanjaro is one of your options. Imagine standing on the Roof of Africa together after completing the hike!

For thrills of a different kind, you could learn to scuba dive. This immersive experience is a special one to share with your loved one and seeing incredible creatures like whale sharks and turtles swimming along right next to you will only add to your sense of awe and wonder as you swim beneath the waves.
