Muscat International Airport in Oman to Open new Terminal in March

Muscat International Airport in Oman is preparing to open its new passenger terminal this month. The terminal will commence operations on 20th March, and it will have the space to accommodate large aircraft including the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 747. The huge building will have retail outlets, first class and business class lounges, and offices for airlines, car rental agencies, as well as a four-star hotel with 90 rooms and swimming pools.

Muscat International Airport is getting ready to open its brand new terminal this month. The new facility will commence operations on 20th March, and will span an area of 335,000 square metres.

The new terminal at the airport in Oman will have the space to accommodate larger aircraft such as the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 747. It will have the capacity to handle more than 20 million international passengers a year, with this number set to rise to 48 million in the future.

The first flights to take off from the new terminal will be with Oman Air and they will fly to Salalah, Dubai, Kuwait, and Riyadh on 20th March, 2018. Passengers will have access to state-of-the-art facilities.

Usama Al Haremi, the Head of Corporate Communications and Media at Oman Air, stated: 

“As the official opening of Muscat International Airport’s new terminal is approaching, Oman Air is delighted to inform all its valued guests that all operations will be moved to the new passenger terminal building from March 20, 2018.”

Mr Haremi added:

“Guests travelling business class and first class will now be able to take advantage of the airline’s premium class lounges, which offer an oasis of calm. We are all geared up for the transition of our operations to the new passenger terminal as our teams are putting in extra efforts to ensure a smooth transition.”

The new facility will have 6,000 square metres of duty-free shopping, 8,000 parking spaces, 96 check-in counters, first class and business class lounges, offices for airlines, car rental agencies, information desks, as well as a four-star hotel with 90 guest rooms, swimming pools, and restaurants and bars.

Muscat is the capital of Oman, and it boasts miles of pristine beaches and coastline. Visitors can enjoy access to an array of historic sites and attractions such as the Al Jalali Fort and Al Mirani forts, Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace, Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Qurum National Park and the Bait az-Zubair Museum.

Tourists can visit Oman’s vast golden deserts and soaring sand dunes via dune buggy or safari tours. Or, they can go scuba diving and snorkelling off the coast of Muscat to explore the underwater world that is teeming with vibrant corals and marine species such as seahorses, Oman clownfish, dolphins, and turtles.
