Once again in the front seat of innovation, the UAE prepares to set a new world record by opening the world’s longest zip-line. To be certified by the Guinness World Records, this exciting attraction will be launched in Jebel Jais, the country’s highest peak, by December this year.

UAE to unveil the world's longest zip-line in 2017

2017 is set to end with a bang in the United Arab Emirates, as authorities announce a new and exciting attraction that will appeal to adventurous spirits around the globe. According to project managers, the world’s longest zip-line will be ready to open in the UAE by December this year after long months of preparing for the action. This adrenaline-pumping structure will be located in the country’s highest peak, Jebel Jais, situated in the northernmost emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

This ambitious and challenging project was undertaken by Toro Verde in partnership with Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA). Jorge Jorge, director of Toro Verde Adventure Park in Puerto Rico was selected to design this multi-million dollar attraction which is expected to lure thousands of adrenaline junkies from all nationalities. Referring to the unique journey riders would join in on, Haitham Mattar, CEO of RAKTDA declared:

“This zip-line will be like no other experience out there. Once harnessed to the zip-line in a horizontal superhero position, participants will soar through the sky as if they’re a bird.”

At 1934 metres above sea level, Jebel Jais measures three times the length of Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest skyscraper situated in Dubai). Nevertheless, the exact length of the zip-line will not be revealed until the official inauguration, which will be attended by judges from the Guinness World Records. During the ceremony, the zip-line is expected to be certified as the highest of its kind. The cable itself will weigh in at seven tonnes and will consist of two lines, allowing friends and family to live this tantalizing and unforgettable experience together.

Those who are brave enough to sign up for the zip-line ride should expect fast action. With a capacity to accommodate approximately 350 people per day, the attraction is expected to travel between the speeds of 90 and 130 kilometres per hour. Once they are securely harnessed to the zip-line in a flying Superman position, riders will be transported to a suspended landing platform. From there, they will be transferred to a second line, measuring 300 metres, to complete their journey back to the ground. Authorities expect a rapidly enthusiastic response from those who love a challenge and are interested in the chance of flying like a bird over the UAE.
