Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill a project from Hilton Worldwide to open in Kenya
Hilton Worldwide will open a new hotel in Nairobi, Kenya, after it signed a management agreement with Jabavu Village Ltd. The hotel will have 255 guest rooms and suites, and is scheduled to open its doors in 2020. Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill will be the tallest building in Africa, soaring 330 metres into the sky, and guests will be able to enjoy the views of the city and beyond from the chic rooftop bar.
Hilton Worldwide has announced it will open a new hotel in Kenya’s capital, following the signing of a management agreement with Jabavu Village Ltd. Due to open in 2020, Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill will have 255 guest rooms and suites.
In a joint development with Co-developed by Jabavu Village and White Lotus Projects, the new hotel will be the tallest building in Africa, measuring 330 metres. The property will tower above Nairobi and will be part of a mixed-use development in Upper Hill, and will cater for business and leisure travellers.
Patrick Fitzgibbon, the Senior Vice President for Development of EMEA, Hilton Worldwide, explained:
“In recent years Upper Hill has grown to become a hub for international businesses and organisations, with a number of embassies and organisations setting up their regional offices in the district, including Cisco Systems, World Bank and the IMF. The striking new-build property will pierce the skyline of Upper Hill and will be well placed to meet this growing demand in one of Nairobi’s most exciting and colourful areas.”
The luxury hotel will five diverse restaurants and bars, including a casual poolside bar, smokehouse and grill restaurant, lobby area with landscaped deck, and a stylish rooftop bar where guests can enjoy views of the Nairobi skyline from the 43rd level. There will also be an outdoor swimming pool, spa and wellness centres, an Executive Lounge, a ballroom for events, and 1,400-square-metres of meeting rooms.
Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill will be part of a residential, retail and entertainment development on Upper Hill Road, located approximately 16km from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Upper Hill is an up-and-coming district of the city that has a number of new business and residential developments.
Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill will be Hilton Worldwide’s 50th property in Africa. The hotel group is planning to double its portfolio on the continent within the next five years, opening properties in 17 countries.
