Abu Dhabi to add another 2,400 hotel rooms to market by end of 2016

The new Abu Dhabi Hotel Market Summary report by the JLL Research firm has revealed that approximately 2.400 new hotel rooms will open in Abu Dhabi in 2016. In the first quarter of this year, 200 rooms opened when Four Seasons on Al Maryah Island opened in the capital United Arab Emirate in May, and an additional 2,200 guest rooms will open by the end of the year.

Abu Dhabi will open 2,400 rooms in hotels and serviced apartments by the end of 2016. According to the new Abu Dhabi Hotel Market Summary report by JLL Research, 200 rooms are already available following the opening of the Four Seasons on Al Maryah Island in May, and 2,200 more rooms will open in hotels over the next few months.

The report predicts that Abu Dhabi will have nearly 26,000 new hotel rooms by the end of 2019. Hotels that are scheduled to open by the end of the year in the emirate include, Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Residences Emirates Pearl; Gloria Downtown Hotel; and the Bab Al Qasr.

"Our first hotel in the region was in Abu Dhabi back in 2002 and as the Emirate has grown so has our regional presence. With over 27 properties in the region and three properties in the UAE capital, we are very excited to be adding a flagship property to our UAE portfolio."

Explained Francois Kassab, the Chief Operating Officer, Millennium and Copthorne Middle East and Africa, owners of the Bab Al Qasr hotel. Mr Kassab also added:

"Abu Dhabi has seen an impressive growth in tourism, receiving 4.1 million tourists last year, up 18% on the previous year."

In May, 2016, the number of hotel guests increased by 11 per cent compared to the same month last year. A spokesperson from the airport operator ADAC said Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) said that passenger traffic increased by 6.6 per cent in the first six months of 2016, with January and March the busiest periods, recording two million visitors in each month. A total of 11,848,359 passed through the airport during this period.

Abu Dhabi has become one of the most popular destinations in the Middle East for business and leisure travellers, due to its luxury accommodation offerings, high end business and conference facilities, and wide collection of family-friendly tourist attractions.

Several global upscale hotel chains have a presence in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. These include Marriott International, Four Seasons, Hilton Worldwide, Shangri-La, Ritz-Carlton, Fairmont, Rosewood, Hyatt Hotels, Jumeirah, and Dusit International. Accommodation ranges from beachfront lavish resorts, to serviced apartments in the new business district on Al Maryah island.

With lots of regular flights between the UK and Abu Dhabi via airlines including British Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, travellers can enjoy direct routes to the vibrant emirate. There are plenty of attractions for all ages, such as Ferrari World, Yas Island Marina Circuit, Yas Island water parks and theme parks, Marina Mall, and the Al Ain Zoo.
