The first Pure Grenada Music Festival will take place next month, with a series of concerts taking place across the Caribbean island.

The non-profit event will see performances from world-class musicians and artists, with confirmed artists including soul sensation Joss Stone.

The event will feature a variety of music genres, from soul and reggae to folk and rock, and it will take at four main venues in Grenada from 5th to 10th April, 2016.

The international line-up for the inaugural event includes folk band Madison Violet (Canada), reggae superstar Etana (Jamaica), reggae band Steel Pulse (UK), Jesse Royal (Jamaica), Angelique Kidjo (Benin), contemporary jazz artist Eddie Bullen (Grenada/Canada), jazz/soul singer Zara Mc Farlane (UK), steel pan artist Andy Narrell (USA), and Hendrix Ackle (Switzerland).

One Pure Grenada's website, organisers say:

"Grenada is pure – untouched, unspoiled, unadulterated – and a special part of the appeal surrounding the Pure Grenada Music Festival is its quest to establish a ‘pure approach' to the music and performances it offers.

"This means an all embracing philosophy for the art form, with no filtering out of certain music genres. If it has integrity – if it is ‘pure' music – we will include it."

The musical performances will take place in the Festival Village on the green at Port Louis, the Festival Main Stage in Port Louis, the Carenage on a floating stage in St. George's inner harbour, and the private Calivigny Island on the south coast of Grenada.

Grenada is famously known as the "Island of Spice", due to its position as a leading producer of spices such as cinnamon, cloves, ginger, mace, orange/citrus peels, wild coffee, nutmeg and organic cocoa.

The island is home to an abundance of magnificent natural attractions such as the famous Grand Anse Beach; the island's highest peak, Mount St. Catherine; the Grand Etang Nature Reserve that boasts a stunning crater lake; Seven Sister Waterfalls; the tropical Bay Gardens; and the beautiful Underwater Sculpture Park which is a hotspot for scuba divers and snorkelers.
