Ritz-Carlton returns to Bali with new Nusa Dua resort

Luxury hotel chain Ritz-Carlton has opened the doors to its new 313-room complex in the exclusive Balinese beach resort of Nusa Dua. Ritz-Carlton Bali's debut marks a long-awaited return to the island for the international brand, which was forced to concede management of a nearby hotel in 2009.

Ritz-Carlton returns to Bali with new Nusa Dua resort

Luxury hotel brand Ritz-Carlton has officially opened a new resort in the exclusive Balinese beach enclave of Nusa Dua. The Ritz-Carlton Bali is the global hotel group's second venture on the Indonesian island after its original resort in Jimbaran was taken over in 2009 due to conflicts in local competition laws.

The new 313-room holiday village is the latest addition to the luxurious tourist development of Nusa Dua, set between the dramatic cliffs and beautiful beaches of Bali's southern peninsula, with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Built in a modern interpretation of Balinese architectural style, the hotel is designed to reflect the local culture, with expansive gardens and lush grounds that melt into the surrounding landscape.

The highlights of the new resort include 34 cliff-top and ocean-view villas, a 70-metre-high glass elevator transporting guests from the cliff-top to the beach, and Bejana - the resort's authentic Indonesian restaurant - that offers guests the chance to learn about, taste and cook delicious local dishes.

A further five bars and restaurants offer guests a wide range of dining and drinking options. The Beach Grill, set along the shore, offers seafood and grill specialties, while Raku serves light and healthy Japanese fare. Guests can enjoy fine teas in the Ritz-Carlton Lounge and Bar or tuck into tapas and other snacks from Breezes Tapas Lounge by the pool. There's also all-day dining available at the resort's Senses restaurant.

For family travellers, the resort has a dedicated Ritz Kids club housed in its own building with play areas and a children's pool. Guests looking for pure pampering and relaxation can indulge themselves with Balinese-inspired wellness therapies at the Ritz-Carlton Spa. Surrounded by exotic foliage, the on-site spa offers a serene environment with 14 treatment rooms that incorporate indoor and outdoor spaces. The resort also has an oceanfront chapel for destination weddings.

The Ritz-Carlton Bali is located 30 minutes' drive from the island's new Ngurah Rai International Airport. It is a short distance from other prime tourist spots such as Jimbaran Bay, with its stunning arc of white sand, and Uluwatu, the island's southernmost plateau overlooking the ocean and home to an ancient sea temple and daily fire dance.

This is the global hotel brand's second venture on the island after it handed over management of another resort in Bali, now the Ayana Resort and Spa in Jimbaran, back in 2009. Ritz-Carlton had been found in breach of local competition laws after its parent group, Marriott, offered management services to the neighbouring Bulgari resort.
