Nicaragua prepares to host 4th Puro Sabor cigar festival

Cigar aficionados eagerly anticipating Nicaragua’s fourth annual Puro Sabor cigar festival will be pleased to learn that the dates have been officially set and registration opened. The 2015 edition of the festival will take place from the 14th to the 17th January 2015.

Those booking holidays in Nicaragua to attend the event will not only get to see one of the world’s top up-and-coming holiday destinations but they will also have the unique opportunity to tour the cigar factories, meet some of the locals who work in the industry and mingle with other cigar lovers from around the world.

The 2015 festival will start off with an opening gala on the 14th January which will be held in Managua at the rooftop terrace of the iconic Crowne Plaza Hotel. During the four day festival, attendees will enjoy tours of Nicaraguan cigar factories in addition to tours of the tobacco fields and on day four there will be an auction during the closing ceremony, the proceeds of which will go to the preservation of the Esteli River Basin.

President of the Nicaraguan Association of Tobacco Producers, Nestor Plasencia, underscored the importance of the Puro Sabor festival to Nicaraguan tourism,

"Our country is internationally recognised for producing the best cigars in the world, thanks to our rich volcanic soil, ideal climate conditions and decades of hard work and experience. Puro Sabor is a unique opportunity to visit one of the most exotic countries in the world, enjoy its best products, smoke our best cigars, and come together with us, the ones who make it all happen."

Despite the fact that Costa Rica has long been thought of as the top Central American holiday destination, Nicaragua has steadily been building a reputation as one of the top destinations in the region and indeed the world, most recently making its way on the New York Daily News as one of the five must-see places for 2015. Thanks to its combination of cuisine, culture, coral reeds, particularly those off the cost of Corn Island, and not to mention the fact that Nicaragua is home to some of the world’s best coffee and finest cigars, many travel experts are sitting up and taking notice of Nicaragua.
