Christophe Harbor development continues in St Kitts
The island nation of St Kitts and Nevis in the Caribbean is celebrating a tourism milestone following the recent opening of SALT Plage beach bar and the groundbreaking for the superyacht marina on Christophe Harbor on St Kitts. SALT Plage will attract visitors arriving or departing from the cruises with its menu of cocktails and gourmet cuisine, while the superyacht marina is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Christophe Harbor on the island of St Kitts celebrated a milestone last month following the opening of the SALT Plage beach bar and the groundbreaking for the superyacht marina.
The developments mark a milestone for the St Kitts and Nevis tourism industry and its luxury market. Senator Ricky Skerritt, the Minister of Tourism and International Transport, commented:
"I am extremely pleased with the progress that Christophe Harbor is making in developing facilities that are helping to shape this world-class resort area. These two events demonstrate clearly that we are advancing in accordance with the strategic direction of our tourism plan toward attracting more affluent visitors to St. Kitts."
The SALT Plage beach bar is located at Whitehouse Bay and has an 82-feet-long dock that stretches into the picturesque bay, offering 1,450 square-feet to dock visitors. Tourists can then head to the open air beach bar to enjoy a cocktail on a sun lounger while watching the sunset. The bar was named after the site's thriving salt export business during the 1940s and the building's design has incorporated the foundations of the old salt warehouse.
At the end of June, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the superyacht marina at Christophe Harbor which marked the first phase of the project. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2014 and the new marina will welcome new vessels up to 220 feet from early 2015.
The full-service marina in St Kitts will also offer nightclubs, bars, boutique shops and luxury hotels.
Located on 2,500 acres on the south-eastern peninsula of St Kitts, Christophe Harbor also offers six pristine white sandy beaches. As well as the superyacht marina and village, the development will include a luxury Park Hyatt, St. Kitts that will open in 2015, and a Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course in 2017.
St Kitts and Nevis is a popular destination for yacht and cruise holidays in the Caribbean and the islands receive visitors all year round thanks to the tropical climate and breathtaking natural landscapes that include sugar white sand beaches fringed with crystal clear turquoise ocean waters, verdant green forests, majestic volcanic peaks, and winding rivers.
Situated in the West Indies, the two Caribbean islands are separated by a two-mile channel and tourists can easily access both islands during their visit.
The islands are home to an array of luxury beachfront St Kitts hotels and resorts and visitors can take part in an array of activities such as tours to historical sites, bird watching, scuba diving, snorkelling, catamaran cruises, fishing, golf, shopping, and indulging in pampering treatments in luxury spas.
