Margot Robbie enjoys relaxing holiday in Nicaragua
Hollywood actress Margot Robbie recently visited Nicaragua for a relaxing holiday break. Sharing pictures of her experience on Instagram, the breathtaking view of the Nicaraguan coast could be seen. It's not a coincidence that industry insiders have pegged Nicaragua as this year's must visit Central American holiday destination.
Wolf of Wall Street actress Margot Robbie took time off her busy schedule to jet off to Nicaragua for some much needed rest and relaxation. Pictures of the 23-year-old Hollywood starlet lounging pool side against the backdrop of the Nicaraguan coast could be seen on her Instagram account along with another picture of her and a companion indulging in some poolside yoga with the caption, “Sunset pool yoga (yeah it’s going to catch on) #nicaragua”.
Given that Nicaragua has been pegged as one of the up and coming Central American holiday destinations it comes as no surprise that the star chose to visit blossoming nation that has just recently begun to open up to tourists. Nicaragua has, in recent times, appeared on a variety of hotlists and many industry insiders feel that Nicaragua has the potential to give Costa Rica a real run for its money. Nicholas Kontis of the firm World Travel List recently declared,
“[Nicaragua is] the new tourist destination in Central America, which reigns as the next destination point to visit. Everything you can find in Costa Rica is abundant in Nicaragua, a country that, unlike their southern neighbors, is blessed with a rich Spanish colonial culture that dates back centuries and is well preserved in the city of Granada”.
Kontis’ sentiments were echoed by Rafe Stone of Journey Latin America who stated,
“Nicaragua is one of those countries that has it all”.
While Nicaragua currently lags behind its Central American peers in terms of its infrastructure, it makes up for this short coming with a high level of customer service, pristine white sand beaches, exotic rainforests, a breathtaking volcanic range and its quaint colonial cities. Nicaragua’s topography has all the elements needed for a strong eco tourism following and is the ideal place to visit for those travellers who are interested in something off the beaten path.
In 2013 approximately 1.2 million travellers took holidays in Nicaragua and the tourism sector generated $417 million in revenue. By comparison Costa Rica welcomed 2,427,941 visitors, which generated $2,427 million in revenue. While Costa Rica is still clearly the regional leader Nicaragua certainly has the formula needed to challenge Costa Rica for the crown.
