The Minor Hotel Group (MHG) will be making its debut in Cambodia after announcing that it has opened a hotel in Siem Reap.

The Cambodia hotel, formerly the Southea Boutique Resort, will be rebranded and officially renamed the Anantara Angkor Resort and Spa later this year.

The hotel group operates 95 hotels in 14 countries all over the world including several Anantara hotels.

"We are thrilled to add Cambodia to our ever-growing list of countries with this beautiful boutique resort in Siem Reap joining our portfolio," stated Dillip Rajakarier, the CEO of Minor Hotel Group.

"It's exciting times for Anantara right now – this addition strengthens the brand's position in Southeast Asia, plus we have our first Anantara opening in Dubai in a few days and also the first Anantara in Africa to come before the end of the year."

The 39-suite Anantara hotel in Cambodia is located close to the central district in Siem Reap and the UNESCO World Heritage Angkor Wat which is home to ancient temples.

The property's facilities include a restaurant that serves classic native Khmer recipes with a modern twist, and a choice of picturesque dining settings on the terrace or in the frangipani tree-lined courtyard.

Guests can relax in the hotel's spa with its five suites, collection of organic rejuvenating treatments and daily yoga sessions, or take a dip in the gold-flecked, terrazzo-tiled pool which has invigorating Jacuzzi jets.

The suites in the Anantara Angkor Resort feature artwork that has been designed by local artists and throughout the property there is custom-made furniture and Angkor Wat-inspired design.

Located in north-western Cambodia, the town of Siem Reap is the gateway to the Angkor Archaeological Park which is home to some magnificent ruins of 12th-century temples. The town boasts colonial and Chinese-style architecture in the Old French Quarter and holidaymakers can enjoy shopping traditional markets and modern malls.
