Two hotels in Morocco feature in the Guardian's 100 boutique hotels under £100
The Guardian has recently published its list of recommended boutique hotels under £100 in Africa and the Middle East. Two of Morocco's boutique hotels- the Palais Oumensour and the Riad Chi Chi featured on the list. Budget conscious Britons will likely sit up and take notice of the economical options available in Morocco's popular holiday destinations like Marrakech.
As part of their ongoing 100 boutique hotels under £100 a night feature, The Guardian recently published their selection of affordable hotels in Africa and the Middle East.
Morocco outperformed many of its neighboring peers with not one but two of their boutique hotels making the enviable list. The Guardian singled out the Palais Oumensour in Taroudant and the Riad Chi Chi in Marrakech as two of the regions best boutique hotels under £100.
The charming Palais Oumensour hotel is one of the few Morocco hotels to managed entirely by women and despite the budget price it features all the key amenities to make for an enjoyable holiday experience including a pool, traditional hammam, a Jacuzzi and a solarium.
Holidaymakers planning to visit Morocco will be pleased to also see a hotel from Marrakech, Morocco's most popular holiday destination, featuring on the list. The Riad Chi Chi boasts a modern design with a stylish neutral color palette. The courtyard, lanterns, tasseled lampshades make it an authentic Moroccan experience. A stay at the Palias Oumensour hotel starts at just £60 per night for a double room while the cost of a double room at the Riad Chi Chi starts at £80.
While Morocco has not suffered the major decline in tourism that has plagued Egypt and Tunisia, the economic crisis has slowed the growth of the country's tourism industry with a decline in arrivals from hard hit countries like France and Spain, previously its two largest source markets.
As a result the Moroccan ministry of tourism has stated that it will be campaigning to attract more visitors from the UK, Germany and Saudi Arabia. The attention given to Morocco's budget friendly boutique hotels by one of the UK's highest circulation media is a major step towards luring cost conscious Britons to look at Morocco as a very viable option for their holidays.
Other hotels to make the Guardian's list included Schoone Oordt, Western Cape South Africa, Villa Margherita, Swakopmund Namibia and Tunisia's Hotel Dar Dhafia.
