Lionel Richie to headline St Kitts music festival in June
Global singer and songwriter Lionel Richie will be headlining the 17th Annual St Kitts Music Festival next month. Tourists visiting St Kitts and Nevis will be able to see the former singer from The Commodores perform live on stage alongside an impressive line-up of international artists during the Caribbean event which takes place from 27th to 29th June, 2013.
American singer and songwriter Lionel Richie has been confirmed as the headlining act at this year's 17th Annual St Kitts Music Festival.
Tourists visiting St Kitts and Nevis will have the chance to see the superstar perform on stage alongside numerous other talented acts at the event which will take place from 27th to 29th June, 2013.
"We feel privileged to have such a global musical icon as Lionel Richie visit St. Kitts to add his remarkable talent and numerous award-winning songs to this year's Music Festival," stated Senator Ricky Skerritt from the Minister of Tourism and International Transport, Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs.
"Blending renowned international acts such as Mr. Richie with rising local stars and top Caribbean artists in a festive, block-party type of atmosphere is what keeps patrons coming back to our Festival year after year. This year, I expect the festivities to continue ‘all night long'."
Performing alongside Lionel Richie during the three-day Caribbean festival will be Shaggy, Beres Hammond, Konshens, Tessanne Chin, the Cayon Pantastics, Andy Narell featuring Relator with special guest Etienne Charles, Superblue (Austin Lyons), Fay-Ann Lyons and Bunji Garlin.
Lionel is famous for his song "All Night Long," which has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide. The award-winning singer was a former member of the 1970s band The Commodores, where he wrote songs including, "Still," "Sail On," "Easy," and the group's first number one hit, "Three Times a Lady".
In St Kitts and Nevis, holidaymakers will be able to soak up the festival's vibrant atmosphere while enjoying diverse music including RandB, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Soca, Calypso, Gospel and Contemporary.
Tickets costs $US40 per night and the festivities begin at 8pm each night at the Warner Park Stadium in Basseterre.
Located in the West Indies, the two Caribbean islands of St Kitts and Nevis are separated by a two-mile channel and tourists can easily access both islands during their visit.
