Gearing up to its fifth consecutive edition the Taste Santo Domingo 2012 food festival will soon take place in the Dominican Republic's capital city from 18-20 October giving those enjoying Dominican Republic holidays at the time with a chance to participate in this popular culinary event.
Once again the popular international food festival, known as “Taste Santo Domingo 2012,” will be hosted this year in October as it celebrates its fifth edition in the Dominican Republic’s capital city.
This year's edition of this one-of-a-kind food festival has been scheduled to take place from 18-20th October at the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel and the Melia Santo Domingo, with both hotels being located in Santo Domingo’s panoramic seaside promenade and boulevard.
Participants at the food event will include international chefs with special presentations, culinary demos, special food tastings, and a varied exhibit of products and services. Invited chefs will also share their most important secrets as well as their gourmet recipes.
Other event participants will also include representatives from the media, culinary professionals, students, as well as connoisseurs and aficionados of world-class cuisine and beverages.

The event will be held over the course of three days, giving those planning Dominican Republic holidays in October different dates to choose from to attend the food festival. For this year's edition the event increases in duration and size, this time developing over 3 days in the Dominican Republic hotels mentioned and occupying more than 5 spaces simultaneously. This arrangment has been done with the purpose of providing a full schedule of presentations and events for students and professionals in the food and beverage industry as well as enthusiastic foodies. Over 150 companies and more than 4,000 attendees are expected to participate.
In this year's fifth edition more than 20 countries are invited to participate in the 1st Culinary Cup of the Americas, sponsored by Nestle Professional with teams representing them in the Professional, Junior and Pastry categories and over $6,000 USD in Prize Money to be won. The event's first edition took place on 28th October 2009 organised by the Creato company and has since been sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, Nestle, Claro and E. Mercasid Leon Jimenez.
The event takes place thanks to the collaboration and sponsorship of major schools, companies, organisations and other Dominican institutions in the field of gastronomy. In December 2010, and again in 2011 Taste Santo Domingo is referred to by the Listin Diario in its articles of food as the nation's most important national and international food event and the largest festival of its kind.
