CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort Hosts Beachside Ceremony for Guests During Earth Hour 2012
Travellers taking Cancun holidays at the end of March had the chance to take part in the all-important Earth Hour at the CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort. The luxury resort joined in the initiative and switched off its lights along with 5,251 cities across 135 countries all over the world including several historic monuments such as the pyramids of Egypt and the Roman Coliseum.
The 2012 Earth Hour observance was marked in cities all across the world in March and holidaymakers staying at the CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort had the chance to take part in the environmental initiative.
On 31st March, 2012, over 100 million people all around the world, including tourists enjoying Cancun holidays at the upscale resort, took part in the symbolic act at 8.30pm.
After switching off all of the decorative lighting at the resort, CasaMagna hosted a candlelit ceremony on the beach so hotel guests could mark the significant event.
Earth Hour was launched in 2006 and this year’s event was celebrated in 5,251 cities across 135 countries. Thousands of companies, organisations and residents took part including a number of historic monuments such as the pyramids in Egypt and the Roman Coliseum.
This is the third year that CasaMagna Marriott Cancun Resort took part in Earth Hour and Marriott International is setting an example for other hotels by establishing a sustainable lifestyle, setting standards for environmental responsibility, and showing commitment towards the local communities.
