Four Seasons Resort Kuda Huraa to Host Luxury Surf Competition This Summer
Surfing enthusiasts planning luxury Maldives holidays this summer will be able to combine their passion for the sport with luxury stays at the Four Seasons Resort Maldives Kuda Huraa as the resort hosts a new surfing competition starting this August.
For the majority of us Maldives holidays are usually associated with relaxation, white sand beaches, scuba diving and luxury spas but the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa has launched luxury surf package to celebrate the resort hosting a new surfing competition this summer.
It’s not often that surfing holidays are associated with luxury as most avid surfers head to budget backpackers and hostels to meet other like-minded and equally enthusiastic surfing pals.
The Four Season Hotels and Resorts group has launched one of the world’s most luxurious surfing contests which will be hosted at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa later this month.
Surfing fans taking Maldives holidays at the resort will be able to watch top surfers battle it out for the Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy from 29th August to 5th September 2011.
Amongst the surfing competitors are Layne Bleachley, Mark Richards and four additional surf legends who will each be fighting for the US$ 25,000.00 prize money as they demonstrate their skills, which portray the evolution of modern surfing. Disciplines include Single Fin (1970s), Twin Fin (1970s and 1980s) and Thruster (1980s onwards).
The surfing competition is a joint partnership between luxury surf pioneers Tropicsurf and one of the leading Maldives hotels for surfing, the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa.
Spectators enjoying the activities during Maldives holidays will also have the chance to have a go at surfing with lessons included in the luxury resort’s four or seven-night Champions Trophy packages. The package includes three half-day surfing passes at the resort’s on-site Surf School with lessons from Tropicsurf experts; four or seven nights all inclusive accommodation; a fantastic spot to watch the surf competition from the decks of the surf vessel, the Four Seasons Explorer; and the chance to mingle with competition judges, participants and supporters back at the resort and the competition’s home base.
Accommodation at the Four Seasons Resort Kuda Huraa comprises luxurious thatched-roof beach villas, pavilions and bungalows situated on the white-sand beach, and water bungalows placed on stilts above the sparkling turquoise lagoon. Guests can also stay on the Four Season Explorer, an 11-cabin, three-deck catamaran vessel that will take them island-hopping and scuba diving across the azure Indian Ocean.
Facilities at the Kuda Huraa resort include the Island Spa that is located on its own private island and can be accessed via a short trip across the lagoon on a traditional Maldivian boat, a dhoni; a PADI Five-Star Gold Palm Dive Centre that offers diving trips to the thriving waters of the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve; a watersports centre with kayaking, sailing, catamaran cruises, banana boating, parasailing, waterskiing and windsurfing; a modern fitness centre and large freshwater outdoor swimming pool; plus a selection of international and local cuisine at the resort’s beachfront or poolside dining outlets.
