Mount Lavinia Hotel to expand into Bentota
Mount Lavinia Hotel will be providing luxury Sri Lanka holidays to travellers as they announce their investment in Bentota will include 20 luxury villas, costing over $6 million, to keep up with the increase in tourist arrivals to the island nation.
Mount Lavinia Hotel has announced that it will be building 20 new luxury villas in Bentota by 2013 to keep up with the increase of travellers who are arriving on their luxury Sri Lanka holidays.
Chairman and Managing Director of Mount Lavinia Hotel, Sanath Ukwatte, said: "We expect to build 20 luxury villas in the next two years which will cost over US $ six million.
"Mount Lavinia Hotel will be refurbished with a 100 room project under its development. The hotel has already upgraded 53 rooms for this season and the balance will be completed in the next off season. The investment for the refurbishment of 100 rooms is estimated at US$ 2 million."
The addition to Bentota hotels is also looking to develop properties in Dambulla and the East of the island country to offer luxury Sri Lanka holidays for travellers from all over the world.
Ukwatte added: "Tourist arrivals are increasing and we have experienced a higher occupancy rate making our rates go up. We are positive that peace and stability in Sri Lanka will attract more tourists.
"Over 70 students from East have studied at the International Training School initiated by the hotel. We will be addressing the need of youth in the North as the next stage."
One year ago, Mount Lavinia Hotel invested US$25 million into the resort in Vakarufalhi, in the South Ari Atoll island in the Maldives. The resort has been set up with a leading European tour operator and provides 75 rooms for tourists on Maldives holidays.
