Egypt holidays at Jaz Makadi Golf Hotel, the resort of the Stars
With celebrities such as Mel B, Sarah Harding and Denise Van Outen having stayed at this luxury Egypt resort, we investigate into what makes this hotel so special and why it has become a favourite in the celeb world, and ultimately can we afford it?
Set upon lush acres of a golf course peppered with palm trees, the swanky Jaz Makadi Golf hotel invites elite worldwide travellers to spend luxury holidays in Egypt in a truly lavish fashion. One of the world's hippest hotels and certainly one of the most hyped about Egypt hotels, or so say the stars who frequent them, among them: Stephen Belafonte, Denise van Outen, Fearne Cotton and Sarah Harding who all stayed here while attending the renewal of vows of Mel B and husband (bride and groom also stayed at this hotel)
Polished to within an inch of its life, while this hotel might be in Egypt, it is not your typically Egypt holidays destination for sun and beach and it's definitely more about power showers than pharaohs.
Beautifully set amidst panoramic greenery, this hotel sits at the midst of a world championship golf course, with absolutely no other surroundings but miles and miles of landscaped green and blue golf water pools. If in the mood for a quick suntan however guests can sunbathe at the hotel’s rooftop swimming pool or alternatively enjoy the private beach at nearby sister hotel Jaz Makadi Star & Spa. With that many options for relaxation no wonder stars choose this as their luxury holidays getaway!
Shaped like an ocean liner in pale sandstone, its 30s-style lobby, awash in white marble, leads to spiral staircases, bars and restaurants as well as a large swimming pool. While it is smaller than the usual Egypt hotels and resorts, with just 63 rooms and 10 suites, this makes a stay here more exclusive and intimate with all rooms featuring fully furnished with flat-screen TVs, snowy-white linen and floor-to-ceiling windows. More basic rooms have balconies, while the suites have terraces with their own private plunge pools.
And how about the location? Well this green gem lies tucked between the mountains and a desert, Madinat Makadi has declared itself Egypt's main golf resort and this hotel is directly beside the fairways. This means winter golfing made easy - and good value - with the Hurghada airport only a half-hour taxi ride away.
In keeping with its serious golfing purpose, there's no beach, although as we mentioned before guests can use the one at neighbouring Jaz Makadi Star Hotel, a short walk away.
While Madinat Makadi has a manufactured souk with restaurants, shops and clubs but this isn't the place to come for hard-core partying. But then who cares for that when you want to spend truly indulging and pampering luxury holidays at a top hotel? For nightlife action and authentic souk haggling guests can head to nearby Hurghada.
Non-golfers can entertain themselves windsurfing, camel or horse-riding. The main key attraction here? Why golfing of course! The hotel sits on an 18-hole, par 72 course designed by John Sanford and a 9-hole par-three course sits alongside the 7,500-yard Championship course with its saltwater lakes. There's also a driving range.
Last November, just over a year after they got married in Las Vegas, Mel B and husband Stephen Belafonte decided to retie the knot with a four-day celebration, during and after which they enjoyed some luxury holidays at this resort.
But is this hotel good enough for the rest of us (or rather shall we ask - affordable enough?) Well it’s actually not too bad, you could be spending swanky Egypt holidays here with some special offers featuring a five-night break starting at £899, including return flights, transfers and B&B accommodation.
