Cuba holidays for the avid reader can be booked anytime from the 7th February to the 7th March as the island prepares for a month-long book fair running for the 19th edition. Readers from all over Latin America and Europe head down to Cuba holidays during this yearly International Book Fair in Havana to take a look at the latest national and international releases, as well as all-time classics and children’s literature.
The main venues of such a cultural event will be the Morro-Cabaña Fortress, the centrally located Pabellon Cuba exhibit centre in Havana’s Vedado district and the Rancho Boyeros Fair grounds.
This time around 5 millions of books are expected to be offered during 2010’s international book fair, an event held annually in Cuba posing as an attractive incentive for worldwide readers to take Cuba holidays.
The 19th International Book Fair is scheduled to begin 7th February in Havana and will be later extended to the rest of the capital cities of the country until 7th March.
Granma newspaper also announced that a week before the event starts, more than 250 new publications will be on sale at all of Havana’s book stores in a variety of languages for those tourists who aren’t Spanish natives and yet want to brush up on Latin American literature during their Cuba holidays.
The Guest of Honour country this year is Russia whose delegation to the event will include writers, artists and political figures from that country, who will be there to give speeches and perform book-signings. Those interested in getting an up-close with now it’s the time to book Cuba holidays as the event kick starts in only a few days.
The Fair will be dedicated to Cuban writers Reynaldo Gonzalez and Maria del Carmen Barcia, winners of the National Literature Prize and National Social Sciences Prizes in 2003, respectively.
As usual, book presentations will also be taking place, as well as talks with authors of the books presented in the fair, round tables and many other side-activities for the young and old. The books on offer will be in a selection of languages for the enjoyment of readers of every corner of the world who come here to appreciate Cuban and Latin literature during their Cuba holidays.
The event will be honouring the centennial of the birth of Cuban famous writers and poets: Jose Lezama Lima, Dora Alonso and Angel Augier.
Likewise, the National Literature and Social Sciences 2010 prizes will be delivered to its winners Ambrosio Fornet and Pedro Pablo Rodriguez, while the Nicolas Guillen award on poetry and the Alejo Carpentier awards on novel, short story and essays will be also presented during the event to praise new writing talents in the island.
