Dubai holidays can be tough on your wallet and have you digging a hole in your pocket, but it doesn't necessarily have to be that way. At least not every time. Here we present you with a way to save on the little things so you can spend on the big things

Save a quid or two on your next Dubai holiday!
We know that you’ve already splashed some good money on your next Dubai holidays but since most Dubai hotels are Bed & Breakfast only we know that you can easily blow your budget between restaurant meals and the lots and lots of shopping around that will tempt you into spending to no end!
But here we come to the rescue with a few tips on how to save on some basic stuff like food and transport during your Dubai holidays so that you can spend it on more important things such as shopping, desert trekking, camel riding and souvenir and bargain hunting!
Yes, we know that the posh lifestyle of Dubai can suck you dry with its ever escalating prices and small luxuries surrounding you everywhere you look, but there are simple ways to stick to your budget and limit your spending without limiting all the fun!
First rule for getting around during your Dubai holidays is to never ever take a taxi! At least if you want to save some serious pocket money. Taxies here are costly and known to be severely inefficient, not to mention traffic. Besides it is so much better to start exploring the many Dubai sights on public transportation which is incredibly cheap and with the new Dubai metro that opened last September there is really no excuse not to get around on brand new and reliable trains! The buses start from AED 2 to AED 4, the water-buses are AED 4 per trip, and the metro, AED 1.80 to AED 5.80. A true bargain! Plus you can purchase refillable card tickets that can be used on all of the above mentioned methods of transportation. Or even better and more ecological, you can take advantage of the mild winter weather and bike or even walk to most places. Streets like Jumeirah Beach Road, with designated lanes on the sidewalk pavement, are very pedestrian and cycling friendly. Not to mention neighbourhoods such as Juemeirah Beach Resident and Down Town Burj Dubai.
When it comes to dining out it’s very easy to get lost in the many gourmet choices available and the many pompous and pretentious Dubai hotel offerings, but nothing fills one’s stomach like the simple yet flavourful taste of small and cheap restaurants. In this case, Shaikha cafeteria is highly recommended, serving all types of food from Shawerma to grilled wraps. However, if you during your Dubai holidays you get a craving for authentic Arabic cuisine, then super delicious Zaina Mandy restaurant will present you with a delightful choice of dishes for very reasonable prices. Likewise, the Deira City Centre Food Court is one of the most popular ones serving international dishes with the unifying feature that all the stands are cheap. The most popular stands serve up simple Chinese and Indian specialities accompanied by boiled rice. As a bonus for families, they also have a play area for kids, which takes some of the pressure off harassed mums and dads on Dubai holidays!
And last but not least there is the excellent South Indian restaurant at the Palm Beach Rotana Inn serving up great-value food. The Kerala-influenced dishes include kappa erachi (tapioca and chicken curry) and karimeem porichathu (fish fry) and are guaranteed to fill diners up without breaking the bank.
