Abu Dhabi holidays graced with presence of celebrities at Grand Prix

Many came on Abu Dhabi holidays as spectators of the Grand Prix Formula 1 race which took place here over the course of 3 days and which ended on a high note, graced with a special visit by Miss World and with added entertainment provided by world-famous celebrities like Beyonce, Timbaland and Jamiroquai, who all performed for the delight of visitors.

The start-studded event had among its most famous spectators a host of celebrities and Middle Eastern royalty as well as US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton.

Starting last Friday, 30th October, 2009, the event which took place over a three-day period, saw American songstress Beyonce returning to Formula 1 after her appearance in Singapore, and was joined over the next few days with performances from Kings of Leon, Aerosmith, the Wailers, Jamiroquai and Timbaland.

But some sports celebrities also took the time to enjoy some Abu Dhabi holidays and take part in some of the action as spectators. Sports stars included England cricketer Andrew Flintoff and American basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, as well as F1 legends Damon Hill and Sir Jackie Stewart.

Etihad Airway was the main proud sponsor of this F1 event which saw world champion Jenson Button secure third place to Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettell, on Sunday. Prior to the event Etihad Airways created a range of packaged Abu Dhabi F1 luxury holidays which included return flights with the airline plus accommodation and tickets for the races.

The final fixture of the F1 calendar took place over the weekend at the all-new purpose-built Yas Marina Circuit, in Abu Dhabi. Set half on land and half on water, the 499-room hotel is situated on the Yas Marina and includes 14 restaurants and lounges, rooftop swimming pools and a spa. Its gridshell design is meant to reflect the throw of a local fishing net. This is the first of sports-themed Abu Dhabi hotels and the only one in the world to feature its own race track around it, with its external shape being very reminiscent of the F1 world.

The hotel will play host to a series of fashion shows later this month, when all 120 Miss World finalists will be on stage. Taking her time to enjoy short luxury holidays at this new Abu Dhabi hotel, Miss World was present on a short visit to meet participants and performers at the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix ahead of her appearance at the Grand Final of the World Travel Awards in London on Sunday.

She will be joined by 120 Miss World contestants at the Awards, before flying back out to Abu Dhabi for a fashion show at the Yas Hotel.

All 120 Miss World finalists will also be making a special guest appearance on the second day of World Travel Market, which takes place in London next week.

This Miss World finalists will also be at the Grand Final of the 16th World Travel Awards at the London Marriott Grosvenor Hotel this Sunday (November 8). All 120 Miss World finalists will be presenting trophies to individual winners on the night.
