The British Raj in India was an extraordinary and unique phenomenon, both historically and in terms of its physical legacy. British India was initially a trading enterprise, with treaties willingly entered into by local rulers. The cities of Calcutta, Madras and Bombay were originally established by The East India Company as trading posts. Independence from The Raj came in 1947, but the physical evidence of the British presence survives till today in most parts of the country. The centres of the major cities established by the East India Company are still astonishingly, perhaps bizarrely British. This unique tour takes you through various parts
of the country showing you the magnificent legacy left behind.
