This flying safari combines the beautiful bush country of northern Kenya with the open rolling grasslands of the Masai Mara plains. Visit areas made famous in Joy Adamson’s Born Free series, follow in the footsteps of the lioness Elsa or see where the leopard Penny was released in Shaba National Park. This tours hand-picked accommodation is full of character and charm from Elsa's Kopje Camp to Joy’s Camp in Shaba National Reserve which is built on the site of Joy Adamson’s tented home. Finally, fly to the stunning Masai Mara and stay at Cottars Camp which recalls the romance and adventure of the 1920s. Day 1 - Fly to Nairobi

Fly from Heathrow overnight to Nairobi, Kenya's capital.

Day 2 - Nairobi

On arrival transfer to Macushla House for a day at leisure or choose from a selection of optional excursions (book and pay locally).

Day 3 - Meru

Take an early morning light aircraft flight to Meru National Park (approximately 1 hour) and transfer to Elsa's Kopje. Hidden away amongst the rocky crags, the camp is built very near to the site of George Adamson's original campsite. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive. (b,l,d)

Day 4 & 5 - Meru

These days include both early morning and late afternoon game drives in the Meru National Park. (b,l,d)

Day 6 - Shaba

Depart after breakfast by light aircraft to Samburu National Reserve or Shaba (approximately 40 minutes) and transfer to Joy's Camp. This camp is set on the sight of Joy Admanson's tented camp in the Shaba National Reserve. Much of Shaba's charm lies in the splendour of its deep gorges, waterfalls and open grasslands dotted with springs. After lunch at the lodge enjoy a late afternoon game drive. (b,l,d)

Day 8 - Masai Mara

Fly by light aircraft to the Masai Mara Game Reserve (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes) and transfer to Cottars 1920's. Enjoy a late afternoon game drive through one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves. See vast grasslands scattered with herds of zebra, giraffe, gazelle, and wildebeest. You might even spot large predators hiding in the tall grass. (b,l,d)

Day 9 - Masai Mara

Take an early morning balloon safari* over the Mara followed by a 'bubbly' bush breakfast (optional extra) or a game drive followed by breakfast at the camp. Spen the rest of the morning at leisure then after lunch enjoy a late afternoon game drive. (b,l,d)

Day 10 - Masai Mara

Day 11 - Kenya Holiday Extension or Fly Home

Fly by light aircraft to Nairobi (approximately 1 hour). Proceed with your chosen Kenya holiday extension or return to Heathrow (b)

Option to fly from the Masai Mara to Mombasa on day 11 (includes lunch) - prices on request.
