Vietnam Holidays

Dramatic, fast-paced, ideologically unique, naturally beautiful and culturally rich, Vietnam is land of extraordinary encounters, striking natural wonders, surreal landscapes and energetic cityscapes.

Vietnam

One of the fastest developing nations in the Far East, Vietnam is a place of enigma, striking contrasts, amazing cultural attractions, fast-paced cities and a breathtaking coastline set against the dramatic backdrop of emerald-green mountains. Get lost in its colourful streets, be captivated by its fun and energetic people, learn about its interesting history with world-famous political upheavals and discover ancient temples, dramatic nature and pristine turquoise beaches.

Introducing Vietnam

Home to one of the world's most surprisingly good cuisines, Vietnam has so much more than meets the eye. While many may think of it as the country that engaged in a long and bloody war with the United States, this is one resilient nation that has managed to pick itself up and rise from the ashes.

Even when the war has been long over, you will find that its impact endures with reminders of it everywhere you travel to in Vietnam. But it is these very same reminders that are a major draw for many curious visitors as they give a unique insight and feel of what the country has been through, with the Vietnamese emerging with their pride intact.

You will discover its unique brilliance and appeal as you come across its fun and energetic locals who will be happy to share a drink and a laugh as well as re-tell many delightful stories.

Developing at an astonishing pace, Vietnam may be poor in parts but never boring or squalid. From its booming cities such as the enchanting capital of Hanoi, dubbed the grand old lady of the Orient and the driving engine of the nation's economy at Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam doesn't fail to wow and amaze.

Smorgasbord of Colourful Contrasts and Cultural Experiences

If there's something that Vietnam has by the bucket-load is inspiring culture and engaging cultural experiences. If you travel to the north you will find strong Chinese connections while in the South, Indian and Hindu culture have had a major impact, with the Cham temples and the spicy flavours of the regional cuisine being fine examples of its influence.

But it is between these two contrasting cultures that you'll ultimately find the quintessential Vietnam in the central provinces; in cities like Hoi An with its historic old port and Hue with its pagodas, royal tombs and imperial cuisine. To this you add the French colonial legacy in Hanoi's boulevards, the magnificent museums of Ho Chi Minh City, the coffee and baguette culture present everywhere, over 50 hill tribes and the long-standing communist ideology and you've got Vietnam; an intoxicating cocktail of striking contrasts and unforgettable streetscapes.

Majestic mountains, national parks and sun-kissed beaches

While part of Vietnam's unique charm lies in the fact that it stands as one of the world's only four remaining single-party socialist states, there's much more to it than its political individuality.

Beyond its cultural highlights, Vietnam has astounding nature with some surreal landscapes that are worth the trip there alone. Starting with the imposing mountains of Cao Bang to the surrealistic limestone islands in Halong Bay and the mountain trails that take you to fascinating tribal villages, Vietnam is a nature lover's dream. For a journey of bewilderment don't miss the cave systems of Phong Na and national parks such as Cat Tien.

For a different experience altogether, Vietnam also has astonishingly beautiful beaches and you can take your pick from lagoons, powdery sands, coves and tropical islands lying just off the mainland. If you love snorkelling and scuba diving you shouldn't pass up the opportunity to explore the coves and reefs at Cham and Con Dao Islands.
