The Seychelles for couples

There are few destinations in the world that are better for couples' holidays than the Seychelles. This beautiful island nation in the heart of the Indian Ocean is the ideal escape for anyone looking for romance, with its picture-perfect beaches, high-quality resorts catering for couples only and glorious weather.

A holiday in the Seychelles ticks all the boxes for an opulent break, with numerous five-star resorts located across the islands, many of which boast facilities such as spas, swimming pools and water sports centres, not to mention excellent restaurants.

There are lots of opportunities for you and your partner to find a secluded beach and soak up the sun, as well as chances to try new sports or explore other parts of the archipelago from your resort, so you can tailor your break to suit your interests.

Relaxation and romance on a Seychelles holiday

If the aim of your holiday in the Seychelles is to get away from the stresses and strains of daily life and spend some quality time together then you don't need to worry about a thing. Book a stay in one of the top-class resorts with a spa and you'll have plenty of ways to relax.

Resorts such as Le Meridien Fishermans Cove and Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort and Spa are perfect for couples who need somewhere to unwind and rejuvenate. Both are home to top-quality spas where you can have everything from soothing couples' massages to pampering beauty treatments.

One of the best ways to relax with your partner during a holiday in the Seychelles is to enjoy its stunning natural surroundings - the powdery soft white sand on the beaches contrasts beautifully with the verdant green of the palm trees and the granite boulders that litter the shoreline - it's the perfect backdrop to lazy days lounging in the sun.

There are many pristine and secluded beaches dotted along the Seychelles' coastline, so it's easy to find a piece of sand where you'll be completely alone and can just enjoy each other's company. On Mahe alone there are 75 beaches, so that gives you some idea of how many bays and coves there are to discover.

Couple's activities in the Seychelles

While lying in the sun and swimming in the crystal-clear waters is all well and good, you might be after a bit more action and adventure on your romantic holiday in the Seychelles. If this is the case, there are many activities that are perfect for couples to try.

One of the best is scuba diving, with the colourful coral reefs and plethora of fish being an astounding sight to behold - and one that's all the more magical when it's shared with someone you love. There are dive schools at some of the Seychelles' resorts, so you can book a course and learn together or explore the depths if you're both qualified.

Another, more sedate, activity is kayaking, and this is also a wonderful way to find some of the islands' hidden spots where you can relax alone. Many of the hotels here will allow guests to use kayaks as part of their package, so you can head out for a short paddle any time you'd like.

It's also possible to go on some fantastic walks and hiking trails in the Seychelles' national parks - the Morne Seychellois National Park on Mahe and Vallee de Mai on Praslin are among the top options, but there are many more places you can enjoy a stroll among palm forests or along pristine shores.

Honeymoons and weddings in the Seychelles

If you're looking for the perfect setting for a wedding, or a relaxing escape for your honeymoon, you really won't find anywhere better than the top resorts in the Seychelles, with their lavish surroundings, spectacular seaside settings, romantic restaurants and numerous pampering options. You could almost believe the islands were designed with romance in mind; such is their astounding natural beauty. There are several couples-only resorts, too, so if you want a break in complete peace and seclusion, with no small children upsetting the serene romantic mood you won't be short of choices.

In terms of weddings, the hotels that offer this service have dedicated wedding planners on hand to make sure your special day is everything you could wish for, taking care of all the arrangements ahead of your arrival and finalising the plans when you reach the Seychelles.

Honeymooning pairs will also receive special treatment in Seychelles, with most resorts being more than happy to organise the likes of candlelit dinners on the beach, treat them to complimentary couples' massages in the spa and offer them day trips to isolated islands - all of this and much more to ensure you take lots of wonderful memories home with you.

Some of the many resorts offering beautiful wedding packages as well as honeymoon specials include the Four Seasons Seychelles on Mahe, and the Coco de Mer Hotel and Suites on Praslin Island.
