Swimming with the Dolphins

Duration: Half Day

swimming with the dolphins

Spend a memorable day sailing along the beautiful West Coast during your holiday in Mauritius, stopping on the way to swim in crystal clear lagoons and observe wild dolphins in their natural environment. If you are lucky, you may even get a chance to swim with these beautiful creatures. This exhilarating excursion is one of the best and most popular on the island.

Departing from Flic en Flac, a small village on Mauritius’ West Coast, you will climb on board a stylish catamaran and set sail across the sparkling turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean in search of schools of dolphins which inhabit these warm tropical waters. Relax in the sun on deck and listen to the sound of the waves crashing against the hull as we glide through the water.

Marvel at the breathtaking scenery as we cruise gently past paradise white-sand beaches, dense tropical vegetation and peaceful fishing villages. You will also gain spectacular views of the Rempart Mountain and Black River Range in the distance. The West coastline is one of the most beautiful parts of the island.

Look out for exotic birds and other wildlife on the way as we continue onwards towards Tamarin Bay, the natural habitat for schools of wild bottlenose and spinner dolphins. These magnificent creatures can often be spotted in this area although, sadly, populations appear to be in decline. New legislation is fortunately now in place to protect the dolphins and prevent their numbers from declining any further. Watch these friendly and extremely intelligent marine mammals swim alongside the boat.

You may even get the opportunity to get into the water and swim alongside them if they come close enough, whilst respecting both their environment and daily habits. Marvel at the dolphins’ grace and beauty as they flip and dive, entertaining observers with their playful antics and acrobatics. Get your camera ready to capture the moment as you get close. This is an unforgettable experience not to be missed.

A delicious barbecue lunch will be served on board before we sail back. You will also get the chance to swim and snorkel in the alluring turquoise waters, where you can discover a myriad of other marine creatures such as brightly-coloured tropical fish, sea turtles, moray eels, rays and a variety of sharks, as well as vibrant corals, sponges and underwater flora. This tour is perfect for nature lovers.
