An exclusive 1400 acre private island located in the southern part of the West Indies, Mustique Island is one of The Grenadines' most precious gems. Privately owned by the Mustique Company this little island comprises a set of approximately 100 exclusive luxury villas. With a reduced population of just 500 inhabitants, this island presents itself as an almost deserted paradise popular with many celebrities. Famous visitors include Bill Gates, Princess Margaret, Amy Winehouse, David Bowie, Hugh Grant, Kate Moss, Shania Twain, Prince William and Queen Elizabeth II who spent private holidays here along with Prince Phillip in the 1960s .
With a rich land fauna including rare species of tortoises and herons, Mustique Island is also home to an incredible array of several reefs, making for the most incredible snorkelling and diving experiences in the Caribbean. One of Mustique's most famous and talked about hotspots is the legendary Basil's Bar which is well-known internationally for its good drinks and casual food at the water's edge. Basil also owns the adjacent clothing boutique, the antique shop and the wine store while also being home to the Mustique Blues Festival which features artists from many modern music genres from all over the world. The island's focal point is here at the water front on Britannia Bay where you will find Basil's Bar, a few small shops and the quaint gingerbread houses.
