Shopping Sensation

Duration: Half Day

shopping sensation

Although English is the official language of St. Lucia a French Creole is widely spoken, which is one reflection of the island’s mixed colonial history. St. Lucia was initially a French colony but was eventually taken over by the British. As a result St. Lucia enjoys a mix of both cultural backgrounds. The cuisine is a delicious blend of British, French and Caribbean influences. This unique island offers as much history as natural beauty and there is certainly no shortage of activities to entertain you. This tour is for everyone who loves shopping! You will enjoy shopping in an environment where the people are as warm as the climate.

In truly unique style you will travel via water taxi along the invigoratingly scenic south western coastline of St. Lucia. In approximately 45 minutes this fun ride takes you to Castries, the capital of St. Lucia. The charming city of Castries is beautifully situated; it is surrounded by lovely hills and a large safe harbour at the head of a wide bay which is constantly buzzing with activity. Visitors can find a variety of unique shopping experiences in and around Castries. Point Seraphine is a harbour-front Shopping Complex that provides the best collection of shops in St. Lucia.  Point Seraphine offers Duty Free shopping for designer perfumes, crystal, china, jewellery, cigars, clothing and fine art for the art lovers. It contains more than twenty stores including popular shops such as Columbian Emeralds, Little Switzerland, Harry Edwards and Clear Blue.

Another must see is the 100 year old market. Here you can find an array of island memorabilia; local crafts such as, pottery, wood carvings and a variety of hand woven straw items just to name a few. Choose from an assortment of luscious tropical fruits and vegetables, aroma rich species, local condiments and freshly caught fish. Visit a restaurant for lunch and sample the St. Lucian cuisine with its enticing mix of Creole, Indian and European flair. Select the catch of the day as seafood is the meal to try and finish your meal with a refreshing St. Lucian rum punch. We hope you will have bought new beach wear and summer dress fashions at Castries where you will have the chance to select from a variety of colourful and unique batik printed clothing because you will be heading off on a cruise through the idyllic Marigot Bay before returning to Soufriere.
