Gouyave's Fish Friday

Duration: Half Day

gouyave's fish friday

Come along to the hottest local event in Grenada and party with the natives in a seafood fest like no other! This party is the most famous in the island and the most delicious too as the locals prepare succulent dishes made from the freshest caught fish! On this unique evening trip you’ll be enjoying the best of this fishing village’s culinary delights as well as having a great time mixing and ‘”liming” with the locals.

This lively event takes place every Friday in the quaint fishing village of Gouyave and this is exactly where we’ll be taking you for this fun evening out. Known to many as the town that never sleeps and owing its names to the abundant number of Guava trees that grow here, Gouyave is the pride of Grenada as more fish are caught here than anywhere else in the island! Some of Gouyave’s dedicated fishermen have even been rewarded with medals by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. And on your Friday visit here you will have the chance to sample some of the mouth watering treats prepared with the freshest of the fish caught on the day. Grilled, fried, steamed or cooked they all result in the most finger-licking good delights.

This place is absolutely delightful in every way, yes it is noisy, it’s action-packed, and it’s all joyful and all dancing with some unique characters offering impromptu comedy to entertain all. In short this is a place where you can really unwind and have a good time as you mingle with the locals. This town with its 9000 inhabitants prides itself on being the “entertainment capital” of the sensual Spice Island and you’ll be a witness to this in this folkloric Caribbean party.

The streets are closed off from traffic and lined with barbeque stalls and small kiosks selling tempting delights that are sure to get your taste buds screaming for more. With all the variety of dishes served here you’ll be more than spoilt with choice, you can try the ever-popular fish cakes, the succulent shrimp, the barbequed snapper, the jerked marlin or the fry jacks. None of them will disappoint you, we are sure! You probably won’t be able to find such a wide collection of fresh and tasty Grenada seafood anywhere else. It's more seafood than you can handle and all in an authentic Grenadian atmosphere of joy and celebration.

Here you will discover that the Grenadian people are as friendly and welcoming as can be and one thing you will also discover is that with Grenadians where there’s food and people…there’s always music! On this lively street party the presence of local musicians is always a must and you are sure to spot a band of vivacious drummers setting the party mood of the evening and animating this friendly social gathering.

And only after you’ve fully satiated your appetite for seafood and fun will you be heading back to your hotel and not a minute before. We want you to fully enjoy and make the most of this social festival where you’ll be mingling with the locals and trying the best of the culinary delights they have to offer.

So come and join in on the fun at this Friday evening food fest, where everyone heads down to this fishing village for the happening event of the week. For a pleasant and vibrant evening Gouyave’s Fish Friday party is the place to be!
