Duration: Half Day

lets play around! - golf day

Golf is one of the Dominican Republic's most popular attractions, bringing thousands of tourists in their droves to this beautiful Caribbean destination every year. The combination of year-round summer weather and varied terrain make this one of the best spots to play a round of golf or two in the world. Spend a day on one of the Dominican’s many beautiful golf courses and prepare for relaxation and challenges in spectacular surroundings.

The Caribbean is a sought after paradise destination for golfers. In particular, the Dominican Republic is one of the world’s favourite exotic golf holiday destinations. Occupying two thirds of the island of Hispaniola (which it shares with Haiti), this beautiful country boasts over 20 golf courses with spectacular panoramic views of the ocean and Caribbean coastline. Architects have incorporated hills and coastline into the course designs, which provide golfers with tougher challenges. Many of the courses have been designed by legends such as Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Nick Faldo and Tom Fazio.

Being able to play golf all year round is just one advantage to visiting the Dominican Republic. The tropical Caribbean weather allows golfers to play even on rainy days, when brief showers quickly give way to clear blue skies. Play amongst tropical gardens, lush vegetation, lakes and landscapes dotted with swaying coconut palms. A number of golf courses are located high above the sea atop coral cliffs, offering spectacular scenic views of secluded coves, white sandy beaches and sparkling turquoise waters. The majority of the Dominican’s courses were specifically designed to expose as many holes as possible to the beautiful coastline and ocean.

You won’t need to worry about packing golf clubs, or even knowing how to play golf, to enjoy this popular sport on your holiday in the Dominican. Each course offers affordable rates and club rentals, as well as internationally recognized golf pros for individual lessons if required. Regardless of your handicap, the Dominican Republic’s courses promise a challenging and unique experience that can be enjoyed by everyone. Together with the relaxed Caribbean holiday atmosphere, it would be hard to find a more idyllic destination to play golf.
