Limon Waterfall Tour

Duration: Half Day

limon waterfall tour

As a land of great contrasts, the Dominican Republic is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty. Dramatic mountains, pristine beaches, lush green valleys and spectacular waterfalls are just some of the natural treasures that attract holiday makers and travellers seeking both relaxation and adventure in the great outdoors. This memorable tour will take you to El Limón Waterfall on the Samaná Peninsula. Swim in the refreshing pools and immerse yourself in nature. This is a wonderful day of adventure and relaxation amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in the Caribbean.

After a short flight to Samana airport from Punta Cana, you will be transported into the heart of a lush tropical rainforest to begin your adventure up to the impressive El Limón Waterfall.  Located off a small road between the towns of Samaná and Las Terrenas, the waterfall can be accessed through the small village of El Limón. This trip is well worth the effort if you get the chance to visit this part of the Dominican. Not only is El Limón the biggest waterfall in Samana, but it is also one of the most beautiful spots in the region.

The 1 ½ -2 hour hike off the beaten track is quite strenuous, even for those who are in good shape, so visitors have the option of making all or part of the journey by horseback or on a mule, led by experienced guides. Along the route you can enjoy wonderful views of the lush green countryside and tropical flora as you ride along winding forest paths, over rivers and hills. Immerse yourself in the sights, smells and sounds of the forest, which hosts an incredible diversity of wildlife.

At the end of the route you can stop, rest and take a refreshing drink before making the final descent to El Limón Waterfall. Once there, marvel at the awe-inspiring sight of white foamy waters cascading 40 meters over the cliff-tops and falling heavily into a clear turquoise pool below. You won’t be able to resist taking a refreshing dip in the sparkling waters before making the return trip back, and if you’re brave enough, the pool is even deep enough to dive into from the cliffs. A typical Dominican lunch of meat, rice, beans and salad will be waiting for you upon your return from the falls.

If you are looking for an eco adventure in paradise during your holiday in the Dominican Republic, this rewarding tour comes highly recommended.
