New Puntarena Tourism Development underway in the Dominican Republic

A brand new tourism development is underway in Sabana Buey in the southern province of Peravia in the Dominican Republic. The coastal $1.5 billion project is called Puntarena and is being developed by the Puntacana, Rizek, Selman and Reid groups on 15.5 million square meters of land in a bid to create a major new tourism hub in the lesser-known province.

RIU opens first ever Splash Water World in Punta Cana

In order to please a wider spectrum of holidaymakers, RIU Hotels & Resorts just inaugurated an amazing water park in one of its largest resort complexes in Punta Cana. By the name of “Splash Water World”, this fun-filled establishment offers diverse aquatic attractions including large twisting slides, a children’s pool and a solarium. All guests from the five hotels composing the complex now have access to this unique water adventure.

Dominican Republic records huge increase in cruise passengers in 2016

The Dominican Republic is experiencing a significant increase in cruise passenger arrivals this year. According to data revealed by the Ministry of Tourism, the Caribbean country has received 580,000 cruise arrivals so far in 2016, which is a 67.5 rise from the same period in 2015. The growth in visitors has been helped by the opening of the new Amber Cove cruise port complex in Puerto Plata last year.

Ani Villas to expand private resort collection with new property in Dominican Republic

Ani Villas has announced that is planning to open a new resort in the Dominican Republic in the summer of 2017. This will be the hotel company’s fourth private resort, and it will have 14 bedrooms with 24-hour butler service, as well as facilities including a spa, sports and fitness centre, tennis courts, swimming pools with water slides, and a large pavilion for events.

Dominican Republic records 3 million tourists in first six months of 2016

The Dominican Republic has recorded more than million visitors in the first half of 2016. The numbers set a new record for the Caribbean island nation, with a total of 3.043 million arrivals visiting between January and June, a 6.5 per cent increase compared to last year. The majority of travellers originated from the United States, Europe and Canada.
