Savegre River Rafting Tour (class Iii)

Duration: Half Day

savegre river rafting tour (class iii)

If you are looking for action and adventure combined with nature on your holiday in Costa Rica, this Savegre River tour should be at the top of your list. Expect a full day of exhilaration - from start to finish - and prepare to get wet!

Your journey will begin on a gravel road, which winds through the remote backcountry of the Rio Savegre. Then, take a deep breath as you start a four-hour guided rafting trip on class II, III and IV rapids through the tropical rainforest. The trip is either done in sturdy six person rafts or two person inflatable kayaks, and caters for beginners as well as the more experienced rafter.

The Rio Savegre is one of the best white water rafting rivers in Costa Rica, especially during the green season (May-November) when the mountain rain rushes down the river into the sea. This creates rough rapids, which are ideal for tourists looking for the ultimate adrenaline rush. The whitewater rapids, which include ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Malibu’, are very exciting, but not so demanding that they stop you enjoying the amazing tropical jungle scenery along the way.

As you float down the river in some of the calmer areas, see beautiful swimming holes, luxurious vegetation, breathtaking waterfalls and remote canyons. Observe a large variety of birds, including parrots, kingfishers, toucans and egrets, and an abundance of other wildlife species in the dense primary jungle surrounding the river. Afterwards, you will stop for snacks at a beautiful waterfall, and lunch will be served at the end of the trip.

What to bring: Rubber-soled shoes, swimsuit, shorts of a quick-drying material, hat with a brim for sun, towel, waterproof sun protection. A T-shirt is optional. Bring an extra change of dry clothes for after rafting.
Length of tour: Full day
