Zipline - Aerial Trek
Duration: Half Day
The island of Barbados is renowned for its sheer natural beauty, rich culture and friendly people. In addition, the island lies within the tropics, offering near perfect weather for visitors all year round.
Barbados is the most easterly of all the islands in the Caribbean, located between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, northeast of Venezuela. The island is considered part of the Lesser Antilles island chain, its closest neighbours being St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Unlike some of its neighbouring islands, Barbados is non-volcanic and is predominantly made up of limestone coral.
The island is also geologically unique due to previously being two land masses that have merged together over the years. The result is a fascinating island with wonderfully diverse landscapes. Primarily flat, Barbados comprises a mixture of lowlands and gently sloping, terraced plains and pastures, rolling hills, deep ridges and gullies, tropical woodland, swamps and stunning white sandy beaches. The land does slope towards the middle of the island, however, where it rises gently to a central highland region − the highest point being Mount Hillaby in St Thomas.
The less developed East coast provides a stark contrast to the West, with rocky shores, strong constant winds, rough seas and good surf. In comparison, the West coast offers clear, calm turquoise waters, fine white sand, vibrant coral reefs and an abundance of colourful tropical fish, providing excellent scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities. Both coasts are beautiful and worth exploring, as of course is the centre of the island, which you will visit during this tour.
The geography and tropical climate of Barbados make it an ideal destination if you are looking for adventure during your Caribbean holiday. This tour will take you to St Thomas in the central part of the island, where you will enjoy an exciting, thrilling ride on the Aerial Trek Zipline − up to 100ft above the ground. Enjoy spectacular views of the island as you fly through the forest canopy across eight platforms at high speed, the highest point taking you over the famous ‘Jack in the Box Gully’. Enjoy a unique, bird’s eye view of the indigenous trees and shrubs around you, and look out for a variety of migratory and native birds.
Upon arrival, you will be briefed on safety procedures by highly trained staff and provided with safety gear, which include a harness, helmet and gloves. The Zipline technology is similar to that used for rock and mountain climbing, so you can relax knowing that you are in safe hands. Experienced guides will be with you all the way, pointing out the beautiful Barbados ecosystem and fascinating geological formations around you, which are unique to the island. This tour is a must for adventure lovers seeking both an adrenaline rush and an experience of a lifetime!
